Some women need to learn how to dress, wearing short shorts in not flattering when you are like 300 lbs.

Not flattering for them to wear pink spandex pants either. Hee boy.

Yes, very true. At least, with spandex pants the legs are covered, wearing shorts legs and more exposed.

Spandex anything on people like that... NOT flattering! I don't want to see their... Camel toe, every little bump, and cellulite. Not sure why they dress that way. Overly confident with their own body image, thinking it looks good?

wow... insensitivity and judging...

I think it's because regular pants don't fit them well - I used to be quite heavy after each pregnancy and found myself constantly pulling up my regular pants even if wearing a belt and re-adjusting every time I sat down. Sweat pants and spandex pants are comfortable and they stay put.

I didn't think of it that way. If I ever got that heavy, I think I'd go the sweatpants route, not spandex. There are jeans that have a stretchable waist as well and my mom owns a few. It's pretty comfortable for her.

I am sure that's the case, overly confident.

I am also thinking how upset people are if anybody criticizes their appearance. And wondering why they would do the same to others.

Women....my sisters are the same way. one of my sisters, a very pale woman who bleached her hair blonde a long time ago got a very expensive beige shirt that made her looked totally washed out.

She asked me:"Caroline, tell me your honest opinion. What do you think of this shirt? Do you like the colour on me?"

I said: "the shirt is a very flattering cut on you but I don't think beige suits you well. It makes you look washed out."

She said;"WHAT? how dare you? you know how expensive this shirt is? what do you mean beige is not my colour? What?! And by the way, it's not beige, it's CHAMPAGNE!"

I said: "why did you ask me for my honest opinion if you don't want to hear it?"

She said; "well, if you're going to be so mean, there's the door!"

Now, I lie to my sisters and tell them everything they wear looks GREAT!

Oh tell me about it. Last night, at the outdoor movie, there were two women who were like 300 lbs and were wearing daisy shorts.

I'm up for criticism if no one likes my appearance, but I know what doesn't look good on me so I try to avoid it. It's nice if someone advise them on what is flattering on them instead of letting them out in public in extremely unflattering outfits. If it's in and around home, they can do whatever they want, but if they're going to wear something inappropriate out to dinner or an event, I'd advise them if they're good friends of mine. I wouldn't walk up to strangers!

I think there's two different kind of criticisms. One is insulting and belittling, another is making suggestions to help them look more flattering and I prefer the latter. I'd never call someone, "You look ugly and fat in that outfit!"

Ah ha, I don't seem to insult my girlfriends whenever I point things like that out to them! Guess I'm just lucky to have great friends who are understanding and open minded.

Of course, there are some people who will take things way too personal.

Ooops..lol

LOL. I really feel for men whose girlfriends keep asking them if their pants or if their dress makes them look fat. My other sister drives me up the wall with that question.

"Does this make me look fat?"

"No."

"Are you sure? Really? You don't think my bum looks big?"

"Nope."

"Are you just being nice? You can tell me the truth you know."

"The truth is, no, you do not look fat in those jeans, I swear."

"Really? Are you sure?"

Argh.

In this case, my sis in law, is not respecting the family. Keep in mind, it's my dad's house, my dad and me are present. Fine and dandy if my sis in law had her OWN place she can walk around nude if she wishes.

None of us pay rent, we all have to live here due to financial reasons.

My point it is no respect on her behalf, she walks around in these digusting short shorts with half her butt hanging out!

I used to do that to my ex husband but now, I learned not to do that anymore because some people did that to me as well. I know I look ok so no need to ask people if I look fat. hehehehe

I wouldnt want to scare my family away by wearing shirts that show my belly.

Maybe you can approach her and suggest to wear short sweatpants that aren't too short? It has to be more comfortable than short shorts with half the arse hanging out. And explain to her that you don't feel comfortable with the way she's portraying herself around your family, that you feel that there should be more respect.
