Urrrgh.....there is stupid nasty fire in hills of the southern Salt Lake Valley. I don't think it is quite the area of Boulder's fire (not yet) but smoke is everywhere and blanketing my house too, very troubling smell, both for trying to rest as well as asthma. I used to live in condo very near the fire line now and found my old neighborhood was evacuated earlier this evening. AND my cousin who lives by my old place text me earlier to say HE and his family got evacuated, and even now MY sister is here because her apartments were evacuated. I have watched the fires a couple times from the roof of my house and its really sad as I can see balls of fire flaming up high whenever the fire reaches a house and sends it into flames. The air is very very dry and very windy today which didn't help. This fire started around 3:30 PM and its mind boggling how fast the fire consumes and progresses. I am sad for those families who have already lost their homes, and surely I will find out soon or later that some familys who lost homes to the fire I know. Especially if my condo neighborhood goes up. Have many nice people and families living there. I pray hard tonight that cool front will pass and change the strength and direction of the winds as well as cool temperatures for tomorrow. Maybe we can limit the damages with help of mother nature and God. With a fire that is so ferrocious though its hard for ground fighters to effectively fight and make fire lines to help contain becuase its too hot and fire moving too fast. Helicopters have had significant difficulty delivering water from the lake to fight the fires because the wind is a logistical nightmare. Lets hope when we get up tomorrow that we have some good news.
