What color HA did you get? I was 8 yo when I got my first HA and I was really shocked at how loud a paper bag was and I did not know what rain sound like when it fell on my unbrella. It is a trip hearing new sounds or hearing them again.
Yes some people make as much noise as the peeps in pornos
your hearing aids looks fantastic!!!
All those little noises, aren't as loud to hearing people. For some reasons our aids make all that stuff louder than it would normally be, too bad it doesn't it that with voices!!
But it def shocking to hear all those little things after not hearing them for so long!
That's cool. I can hear cat calling me from the outside by the door.
I use to be hearing and now completely deaf. Sounds are definietly amplified with my CI. When someone takes a shower upstairs the water noise is so, so loud. Same as all the appliances.
I really like what Ambrosia said about the noises being so loud but not voices. That is hard to explain to people. Last night I went to a two hour baptism class at church, heard very little what the priest said but those church bells going off every 15 minutes stayed with me all night!!!
Cats don't know they snore, neither do dogs...or humans for that matter. We had neighbors over recently, one was allergic to cats, and the other clearly never had been around animals. One of our cats sat near them and began to purr; the two guests turned around and said "What's that noise?" My father said, "Happiness....that's how cats say they're content." They were both fully hearing too...just clueless...
Remembering my days as a student staying awake late and getting up early: this was before I had a deaf alarm so I slept with my hearing aids on, praying I'd hear the alarm. Well...didn't work out that way. The mattress squeaked, I heard the cars go by (summertime, windows were open). I asked myself: "How the Hell do hearing people sleep at night?"
Is sex like a porn movie...I seriously doubt it...maybe your fantasy?
As a hearing person, I have to say that I think we learn to ignore or block out a lot of those sounds (maybe that is why it seems like the little noises aren't so loud to us- or maybe it is just that the hearing aids are amplifying everything, not sure). Although I have to say, personally, I have pretty sensitive hearing- I am constantly hearing things that other hearing people don't hear (ha, that's a lot of hearing going on in that sentence!). I hear fluorescent lights humming sometimes and other weird things like that and when I ask other people "do you hear that noise?" most of them say they don't. But I do think there are some sounds that I have learned to block out just because I hear them so often- I think that's what hearing people do probably, otherwise we would get distracted a lot by all the sounds going on around us. Maybe sounds are more noticeable to those with HA's too because they don't always hear sound at the level they hear when wearing aids- so when you put your aids on it takes a while for your brain to adjust and filter out what sounds to pay attention to and what sounds are just "background noise"... (Hope that makes sense.)
LOL!! You wake YOURSELF up? Oh that's hilarious!! Hahahaha!!
I almost fell asleep with mine on earlier. But it started to tickle my ear and when I went to rub it, I remembered I had HAs.
LOL..
After I got my CI's:
- Birds....man, somebody shoot those bastards!!!!! How can anyone stand listening to them all day??? Same tune over, and over......
- I make noise while walking. Took me awhile to figure it out...clothes brushing against each other. Good thing I don't have corduroys anymore.
- Keyboard clicking is a lot noisier than I thought. Even the mouse makes loud clicks.
- I did not know that cats snore.
- Can hear my black Lab lapping his water from across the house.
- The pitch of my car's engine changes as the gears change.
- Raindrops hitting the windshield at speed does not sound good.
- Can differentiate between a Harley and a Japanese V-twin.
- Do people in real life make as much noise as the ones in porn flicks?
- How can hearing people not go crazy having hardwood floor squeaks?
- Now I know why everyone smokes a joint while listening to Pink Floyd.
- Have rear bicycle wheels always been this noisy?
and many, many more..................
Oh my! I hope insurance took care of that one? When I first got mine I was panicked about forgetting to take them off before I got in the shower, I was forever running my finger behind my ear to check before I got in. I did jump into a pool once with my digital on

That's one of my fears too. Water.

LOL.. funny thing is that you can hear the ABS in some cars when they brake especially when they're taking a corner.
, it makes noised like paper bags crackling, change clanging together, stuff like that louder than it would normally occur. Just trust me lol. It was worse with analog hearing aids though, the digitals dampen sounds.
