Weird feeling

I don't know if anybody has experienced this before but sometimes I do get a weird feeling whilst wearing my implant, it sometimes happens when im in noisy places such as shopping or on the train. I just get this weird feeling it's hard to describe. I get it when my implant is on, it does not hurt it just makes me feel uncomfortable. I usually turn my CI off and keep turning it on and off till it goes.
 
I think Physical but when I hear sound, I get the weird feeling inside. I don't know if it's just me
 
I notice Li-Li drops her coil when she's getting a cold, I think it's the pressure inside her head that makes it uncomfortable to use. I wonder if sometimes in those environments you describe there's a strange pressurization, or something disorienting that affects your balance slightly, like when an elevator goes down and you feel a bit queasy for just a second or you look down off the top of a very high building.

Or maybe just that immense wall of sound is confusing your programming as it tries to dampen down background and can't pick up the right sound to focus on.

I am getting these at the moment, it's very humid and very cold, at work i have those moving stairs (elastors?) and is very noisy i find myself bracing or light headed!! I am normally the daredevil who isn't afraid of heights!! Hope it's just the cold spell.

Supposed to have appt at CI centre for hearing therapy but would have asked them about this, this pm but they had cancelled due to staff not being able to come to work due to Ice everywhere and it's -3 plus raining not very good combination!
 
you probably just annoyed by the background noises. some background noise is annoying as a fingernail scratching the chalkboard.
 
Yeah but it has only just started in the last few months. It's a bit like feeling queasy, it does happen maybe 2-3 times a month
 
It's not just you. I know exactly what you mean. It is hard to describe.

For me, it is almost as if I'm experience hearing noises with an intensity being a bit louder than normal. It is not so loud as to be uncomfortable but you are "aware" all the same. At the same time, my head feels slightly off almost dizzy or not all there. I get these every couple of months. I have noticed sometimes when I'm listening to music all day which is not often can lead up to this "event".

Not sure what to attribute this to. My theory is that the aural system has become acutely sensitive or overwhelmed by some environmental trigger (who knows what).
 
Yeah it is like an weird sensation. It usually happens if im on a train or shopping or whatever. Not all the time though.
 
I think it comes from cell ph makin lots of noises b4 u get notified from the email.

Seriously, really, I think everyone gets "weird" at times when a certain stimuli is applied. CI hearing is no exception.

I did have imbalance about 8 months after CI surgery and it left me feeling "weird" but I continued. About a year later, had 4 or 5 vertigo attacks - they were nasty and after that, haven't had one for over 5 years but I do get moments when I feel like losing my balance but I am not sure if it's just my aging or my deafness or my CI. Hearing people complain the same thing as well.
 
yeah i get vertigo attacks as well. first one was so bad that i fell down alot. other times were minors. im getting my first CI at the end of march 2010. now im worried do you think getting CI would make it worse for me .. imean more vertigo attacks?? last week i went to dr about it and he said i got labyrith balance (some thing like that) so i got pills for it .. it works

i think that's exactly what I've been feeling. I still have it. It was a few times a week for a couple of months but now it seems to come and go
 
have your doctor check for thyroid issues. People who have thyroid problems tend to get vertigo.

It's not vertigo. I brought this thread back up since I contacted my CI centre about this. They checked me out and have no idea what was causing this. They gave me a new processor and told me to contact them if it happens again. Just wondered if any1 else had this. I was checked for infection, my electrodes was checked.
 
Hmmm, I find that my daughter will complain about her sound being "too loud" and take her processors off (or at least 1 off) a day or two before she comes down with a full-fledged cold -- it's a bit of an early warning system for me and I try to get her some extra sleep as soon as I notice that behavior. Rarely works, though, sadly for my little petri dish. Those colds seem inevitable.
