Hello everyone,
We wanted to check out the site and hopefully make some new friends. Our names are Risa and Raven and we are currently going to school for Sign Language Program. We are in our second semester and look forward to learning alot more. We are single mothers and we both have 2 children.

interested in sign language

Well I have been interested in signing for as long as i can remember. I recently went through a tramatic period last may...my 5 year old was hit by a car and was in a coma for a month and rehab for months after, n-e-way he lost most of his hearing due to severe head trauma and so I figured now is good time to pursue my career in sign language. Also if my son lost his hearing completely then we would already be prepared in a way. I live next to Iowa School for the Deaf and so naturally I am always running into people who are deaf. I think that I should be able to sign and be able to communicate with them. I dont think that it is fair that people whom are deaf should have to struggle to try to communicate with a hearing person. Right now we are learning oppression in class and I cannot believe how many hearing people oppress deaf people, we hearing are no better than anyone else and I figure that I can maybe make a difference.....well I would like to try.

to AD.. I am sorry to hear about your son but at least he is still here and that is all matter, right? Good luck on learning sign languages and everything. Meanwhile I hope you will enjoy the stay with us and happy posting away! :)
