Waterproof hearing aids

djchur: :(

They have waterproof CIs, why not hearing aids? Why must we be at the mercy of the hearing aid manufacturer? They charge way too much, the innovation is much further behind than the latest technology. It feels that these people know that we are desperate and they take advantage of something uncontrollable to us.

Why don't you just take off your hearing aids when you're on the water? And ask whomever does the start signal to include a visual signal as well? Helluva cheaper than spending 30,000$ on not so waterproof aids just so you could hear a start signal.

Overthepond sails and wears CI and HA while doing it. Maybe she can give him some advice.

if supposed you careful warranty technical support fix on troubleshooting, I think so something serious sound expensive! I understand
Happened something incident! something problem system signal!

I've email seimens before and they are only suitible to mild to - moderately-severe (barely severe) I think max output on them baby's like 80db and then of course only waterproof 30 minites and to 3 feet. So good for laps in the pool but, not to be capsize.

I can't help but think what if, in a hypothetical scenario, he falls overboard, his hearing aids are screwed and now what? he can't follow what others are saying and they don't know how to make sure he understands them. And this could have an effect on their competitive edge. Isn't it far simpler and WAAAAAAY cheaper to just at least learn sign for critical and most-oft used boat commands and instructions in the event that his hearing aids stop working - then no one will panic and they are not at all deterred from being as competitive? i don't think it's going to kill his boat mates to learn several signs and it may even enhance his ability to keep up with what's being said between mates, with or without hearing aids. Instead, he's looking at $30,000 hearing aids and moaning and groaning about the audist hearing aid manufacturer when he could be his own advocate and exercise some flexibility and find ways to adapt so that he's not *f"ed if his hearing aids cop out. Just sayin'

good tip Bottesini LOL
@DeafCaroline, something happens to me like that, I keep a backup set of hearing aids and I have 2 backup sets (old Oticons, older Siemens)

Eek! i wouldn't bring backup hearing aids on a boat that could capsize in the midst of an intense race. But yeah. back up aids - good idea for any emergency!

I think waterproof HAs would be useful for everyone. Just the other day I got in the bathtub, started splashing my face and then realised I'd still got my HAs in!

the ear band-it looks cool!
Ik I should've used that when I was at the bumper boats LOL (went to a mini golf course with my camp 2day)

I wonder if any hearing aid can take being a month deep in the rain forest or a jungle. I cannot find the answer to that. :hmm:

Ear it which is sold my mums(i accompany her to the appointments) hearing therapist. They look good

These are merely headbands for keeping ear plugs in, they are not to be used over HAs in water! If these things were used as protection over HAs whilst swimming etc. your HAs would get soaked and therefore completely ruined!

You are unfamiliar with my treatment plan:
What my earmoulds do for me is make speechreading (lip reading with speech)easier i cant read lips and dont understand through sound alone.

I DON'T wear aids

Ear it will be perfect addition to my treatment plan

I don't have anything that is waterproof, but the ear-gear boots work for hot weather, I wear them all summer here and they seem to be ok with drizzle now it is winter.

I thought this thread was a discussion about waterproof hearing aids or at least how best to keep HAs dry whilst around water?

I therefore thought it best to mention that the product you suggested would be totally unsuitable to use for the purpose of waterproofing HAs. Just in case someone rushed out and bought some and as a consequence completely wreaked their HAs!
