smithtr,
I have been reading the postings ever since you started talking about wanting the CI removed. I have wondered if the programming was some of the contributing factors to your head aches.
With you having the headaches after the CI was removed, I would think you would want to pursue figuring out what may be causing the problems.
I have been experiencing Migraine type headaches for many many years and recently I have always thought there was a link between shoulder and neck tension to the pain. I have never experienced what I did several weeks ago because I normally take Motrin when I feel the pain coming on and that typically works.
My head ache started in the morning which is not the norm. By 10:00, I could not concentrate and decided to make an appointment with my Chiropractor before heading home to go to bed since my lower back was not right for a couple days. I left work at 11:15 and was at the Chiropractor apt by 12:00. I had an adjustment and had him focus on my neck and shoulders. While laying on the table having my neck adjusted, I immediately felt the release of the tension and within 5 minutes the pain was absolutely gone. The pain did not return the rest of the day. Up until this moment, I had never experienced any change this fast. I felt guilty going home from work but I did anyway because I did not know if the pain would come back.
I tell you this because there may be other causes to your Head Aches. You know your body the best but try and keep your mind open to other causes.
I will say through personal experience that if your CI stimulation is to loud, you may be start feeling the stimulation. I feel a tingling in my neck when things get way to loud. I mostly notice this during the mapping session.
I can also say that Mapping follows different steps depending on the training of the audiologist. I have had my 2nd implant activated last Friday and it was a completely different process including different screens and different tests. I don't think I would have turned my max levels up as high as they are if I did not have the nerve response check done. I'm going back this Friday for the 2nd visit and will make some changes.
I hope you are able to figure out what is going on as I'm sure the headaches are uncomfortable and causing a huge distraction for you.
Steve
