Wanted: Diet Buddies

if you want to loose weight I suggest you to go to weight watchers... one of my nurses did weight watchers since jan 2006 and this day today she lost 45 pounds......

Im needing to go on one too but I find that it wont really help as long as you drink plently of water and workout 3 times a week but i work out 5 days a week and lost quite bit pounds. you could give it a try! and good luck
:)

Umm weight watchers cost money and I'm suddenly singe w/3 kids.

I'm not eating as well as I was but I'm still walking. The stress has made me restless so exercise is not a problem.

How is everyone else doing?

Lost 100 pounds last year, do 5 minutes of exercise a day four
times a day to keep your metabolic rate elevated, limit the amount of
bread and sugar products you consume and go for a walk every time
you get the urge to consume food and just let loose and have fun
dancing to your favorite music, it worked for me.

I love this stuff and eat it for lunch and dinner. One of favorite vegan dinners is a small bowl of this hummus, freshly prepared and still warm, served with pita bread and celery sticks, with some white basmati on the side.

Low Fat Hummus

5 ounces of garbanzo beans

1 tablespoon of tahini

¼ cup of lemon juice

¼ cup water

½ teaspoon granulated garlic.

½ teaspoon ground cumin

½ teaspoon sea salt

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Place garbanzo beans in a bowl with 1 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate. Cover with boiling water, stir, and let sit for 1 hour. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Boil garbanzo beans for ½ hour.

Puree everything in the food processor, and trickle in additional water if needed for consistency.

Vegan Red Beans & Rice

12 ounces red beans

1 large white onion

1 tablespoon granulated garlic

2 quarts water

2 cups TVP

3 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon cumin seeds

½ teaspoon sea salt

½ teaspoon MSG

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 teaspoon liquid smoke

1 cup white basmati rice

1 teaspoon canola oil

½ teaspoon sea salt

1 teaspoon vinegar

1 teaspoon butter flavor

Chop onion in food processor. Add onion, garlic, and beans to 2 quarts water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, add TVP, chili powder, cumin seeds, sea salt, MSG, olive oil, and liquid smoke. Cook until beans are done, about ½ hour. Meanwhile, cook basmati rice in rice cooker with canola oil, sea salt, vinegar, and butter flavor. Add the rice to the beans when the beans have finished cooking.

Mayflower loves this stuff and eats it for lunch and dinner. She swears that the TVP makes it taste like it has meat in it. Yet it has about 1 gram of fat per serving! I'll post a link to a good source for TVP.

The Promised Link

Bob’s Red Mill is an outstanding supplier of whole grains and legumes—I’ve been doing business with them for years. They have the best price on TVP that I’ve been able to find anywhere. The red beans & rice recipe that I just posted was taken from the back of one of their products (with minor modifications made by me).

Since I started working, I used to drink lots of pop, eating candies, 2 or 3 ice cream (I work at snack shop)... I decided to change to yogurt for lunch, and sandwiches for dinner. With pop, I tend to be thristy because I do lot of lifting work... so I switched to water, it did helped.. I should eat yougurt more often during lunch with water, maybe I should add a fruit (we sell orange)..... Lemme see what happens...

Since I left my ex boyfriend, I have stopped eating greasy food, like McDonald's, and I switched to subway, Jimmy Johns, Ebert and Gerbert's- all healthy places to eat. I ve noticed that I lose weight by eating less greasy food.... I tried it again last month, I ended up being sick and ended up having trips to bathroom- no fun!

I haven't been exercising much with everything going on with the divorce and moving and everything but I'm still slowly losing. Keep the faith guys.

LOL zoo...I am in need of a weight loss bud too!
LOL ..so far I am keeping my 121. It hasn't gone up too high.
Although lastnight I pigged out. We had seafood buffet. With
snow crabs and everything. I weighed in this morning ...126!
Back to being careful again...
Oh and walking too!
 Keep the good work up!

I confess my diet has gone to heck the last couple of weeks. I have been walking but I have been eating to ease the pain. I'm trying to work things out with hubby. I will start eating better today.

This weekend my diet went out the window too, I had 3 parties to go to. Eating out 3 days in a row was so bad for me. My daughter is almost 4 months old and I still need to get rid of baby weight. I want fast results, and unfortunetly nothing works fast. I get so upset with myself, but then my friends remind me the baby is only 4 months old. I have to lose 16 lbs to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. I hate dieting though!!! I like pasta, chocolate and bread way too much. I am trying the slimfast shakes for breakfast and lunch. Exercising is hard with 2 kids, work, and this week I start the therapy for my daughters hearing. Free time is going to be limited!!

Good luck with the diet and also with your husband!! If you need to vent, pm me.

My aunt is on a chicken diet, it helps a lot but you will get sick off of chicken QUICK! But there is a lot of things you can make with chicken as long as it's baked!

I just made a batch of this for lunch today—yummy!

Falafel

6 ounces of fava beans

6 ounces of garbanzo beans

1 small white onion, or half of a large one, finely chopped

2 tablespoons dried parsley, lightly packed

1 teaspoon dried cilantro

1 teaspoon granulated garlic

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 ½ teaspoons ground cumin

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

¼ cup water

1 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate

48 ounces canola oil

Place fava and garbanzo beans in a bowl with 1 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate. Cover with boiling water, stir, and let sit for 1 hour. Cover and refrigerate 3-4 hours or overnight. Grind the beans finely with a meat grinder. Mix ground beans in a bowl with onion, parsley, cilantro, garlic, baking powder, salt, cumin, cayenne, and water. Form the mix into meatball-sized pieces (about 16-18). Heat canola oil in an 8-inch diameter saucepan for ½ hour on ¾ temperature. Fry 8 balls at a time for 5 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-covered rack. Make sandwiches with pita bread, lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and desired dressing. Freeze unused portion.

I made a batch of this last night to go with the falafel. This stuff can be eaten straight as a side dish, or it can used as a dip or dressing for falafel, falafel sandwiches, fish tacos, or any other food on which you would normally use ranch dressing.

1 large cucumber, grated

2 tablespoons vinegar

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon dill

2 teaspoons granulated garlic

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and chill overnight.

BTW: It’s pronounced ZAH-ZEE-KEE (I knew somebody would ask). :D
