I use TurboTax too - good tax preparation.

There's a good reason for that. Next month, the Circuit Breaker software will be ready, and people will need to renew their Free Ride permits and all that, and there's a bunch of us who have permits expiring this year, myself included.
I don't care what the reasons are, I like saving money but I wouldn't wait all the into march to get them done just to have it done free. But that's me.
The good thing is, direct deposit takes less than 3 weeks to reach my bank account if filed electronically. How about that?

The completed W-2 is sent from the employer to the employee. How would that be a federal envelope? Unless the employer is the U.S. government, such as Civil Service. Its sent in a federal envelope.... I have moved a lot and had to get corrected W-2 emailed frequently. Once I just put a hold on my old address..... pain in the u know what!
TurboTax - you can do e-file too and got tax refund quickly.
It is free for federal return but probably cost fee for state return.

Last year was the first the year I had to pay to do federal, always had to pay for state, I forget how much it was though. Somewhere between $40 and $60. Still waaaaaaay cheaper than taking them somewhere.
Well, with CHS, it's usually within 7-10 days with a few exceptions. The last tax return I got took 10 days (federal). The State return took 7.
You used basic version of TurboTax?
Last time - I used basic version of TubroTax and it was free for federal return, but I have to pay for state return to be filed electronically, however I decided to sent state return in mail instead.
W-2's are filled out by the employer and mailed to the employee with a copy to the IRS. W-2 Forms are forwarded if you have a mail forward on file within the last six months with the United States Postal Service. These forms are not mailed by the government.
If you did not receive your copy, contact your employer who can create a "duplicate", which a copy must also must be sent to the IRS.
If you are not a direct employee such as a sub-contractor, you will receive a 1099 form instead. If you work for various companies and earn a certain amount for that year, those companies send you 1099's. Various retirement plans also send you 1099s.
Pay stubs are not a legal substitute. Those can or will get you a payday loan only.![]()
I don't live in Chicago, so I don't think Ambrosia lives in Chicago as well.
Not many of us do. There are only three ADers who live in the region, and one lives a long way from Derek and myself.

Still don't care. I'll have my tax return back before you've filed yours.
But it doesn't matter, if you want to use it and you like it that's good enough. I'd be all set with waiting that long, but like I said, that's just me.
Will you buy me a round trip of airplane ticket to Chicago to do tax preparation at CHS?![]()
