Do you think They allow give me another box? Or If not

Then Where I can get vp video box alike Dlink? I have Cable comcast high speed?

Thanks

Yes you can...call Comcast to add 2nd IP address and once you get it, then send another request for 2nd VP. And be sure you let them know that you got 2nd IP address. :)

Hope this help! I am sure my DHB will help you out some more if you need more questions.

Thanks!! Will check this post later :):):):)

also will cost more if I order addition Ip address?

Oh wow ... this is something new. Glad you brought this to our attention. Pretty soon I will have IP provider changed. I'm planning to call internet cable co to order one and set up date and time to come here to install. I will wait for DHB to answer to Phillips' questions before I might need to ask more questions. Thank you.

Hi, this is not hard, and depending on what your HSI (High Speed Internet) provider have to offer. My area cable company offers up to 2 additional IP address each cost 5.99 a month.

I have explained somewhere in this forum about this same topic.

It depends on how much upload speed your HSI offers. If less than 600Kps, then it won't be great if using two VP at same time. Most HSI have upload speed around 385kbps and that is enough for just one VP at a time.

Once you get 2nd IP address, you can request 2nd vp though e mail at getvrs@sorenson.com and explain the situation. I do not know their current policy. I got two long time ago and at that time when I got 2nd one there was no policy on how many one can have per household. Right now, I don't know for sure. But e mailing getvrs@sorenson.com would give you hard answer. I can't guarantee anything. :)

you don't realy nead two Ip's ans long as you have a router hi speed should be able to handle both VP's

router are hassle and unpredictable. I once used Sorenson's own router and set it up properly and I went away on trip and I tried to call up my vp at home and it refused so I gave up. When I got home, I found out that the router either froze or hang. so no calls can't go to my vp. The reason I tried calling my vp at home is because it will auto-answer so I can look in to check to make sure my apt is alright.

So I ripped svrs router off and put my network back on switched ethernet hub and got extra ip's reassigned. I wished I didn't use the router at all then I would have no problem calling up my vp and also remote-control my mac. I have been happy with switched ethernet network setup before the router so I am happy again after I ripped out the router.

That is not true. I have done that and that method would end up allowed VP act as Intercom, that is it! Can't make calls outside at all.
I have tested and done that before, and it never work right. So I ended up getting extra IP address.

The way you described is classic symptom when somebody set the public IP address on VP incorrectly! Often people are confused between "Address" and "Public IP address". If you had set public ip address to the first choice of list which is "Auto-detect public IP address" then it will work right. Otherwise no way outside VP can "See" your VP.

it is a Sorneson router! (SR-200) it is preset by default! just plug in ethernet cable and power then that's it (except for tweaking the vp to work with router)

If it was other router, more hassle and more steps.

Update

Today Comcast Man was here...

He said

From upstairs Second floor> computer, high speed, router, vp...

But can calling electric to install new wire " Cat 5" from Second floor to First floor then take router and VP to First floor ( leaves computer and high speed modum at upstairs )

Or

Lease second comcast high speed modem to first floor and cost addition 40 to 50 dollar monthly

AFter re-reading this thread, I suggest the following:

If you move modem and router to first floor and computer on second floor, you can change router to wireless, then get wireless access point or internal card to connect computer wirelessly. VP would be wired not wireless.

The only thing you need is to have comcast install an outlet on floor 1, put your router (wireless) there, along with moderm and VP. Then put wireless bridge or wireless card in computer on 2nd floor. That is how I solved this problem.

Well, you still misunderstood my point. On your VP, go to setting >>> network >>> you will see several buttons, often people got confused between two button, one is called address, other is callled "public IP address" Both needs to be set correctly in order for them to work on default setting on SR-200. What I see happens is that customer used the second line in setting on Public IP address configuration and that points to private IP address, that is why outside callers can't call in.
