My family in Grand Cayman were lucky that Gustav wasn't a cat 4 when it passed through the Cayman Islands last night. They have received some damages but Cayman Brac and Little Cayman were the hardest hit though.

Me and my family will not be evacuate, we are staying to protect house. Because of Hurricane Ivan, house almost torn apart. :( So we decide to stay.

I do hope that you and your family will be safe from Gustav. Are you near a coastline? Yea, Ivan was a monster.

15 minutes away. Good thing we have beach to protect us.. I have feeling Hurricane turning toward us. It was hunch. I can be wrong. :dunno:

Beach slow hurricane down little bit. :lol: Once it hit land, it become weaker. Part of science. It suck in my head for 2 yrs. :lol:

Yes, It will weaken down when it hits the land but, the beach does not entirely protect everyone from the hurricane. It is still fatal, no matter what.

You say you are 15 minutes away from the coastline. Remember a hurricane is huge which means that the outer winds will reach to you by the time or even before the center hits the land. It may not weaken down right away by the time it hits the land.

We dont have to worry too much. We have prepared for everything, carport is fixed, fence is in correct way built. I have strong feelings that i would be safe enough :). Our house on top hill, we dont have worry about flood.

There's an interpreter in the video so you will know what the mayor is saying. They want 100% of the people gone from the city and will have no emergency services left behind. So if you stay in the city, you are on your own with nobody to rescue you.
 
Now, Hurricane Gustav is Cat. 5 at 165 mph, according on wikipedia.

It's very horrible to see like that and my hopefully goes be okay for people from coast area.

It is not a Cat 5 yet but a Cat 3 at 120 mph. Let's hope that it will not become any stronger.

Did you look at time of my post? It was Cat 5 at 165 mph during around 5:15 pm in morning, time is in CST.

Hurricane occur change in time for wind speed, from down to up, or up to down.

It was Cat 4 yesterday, now, it went down from 5 to 3 since 5 was occurred in much early morning, as I noticed it on my phone at work.
 
Not trying to offense anyone, but why would anyone want to stay in New Orleans after the Katerina? The city is below sea level!! We got alot of land up north that is above sea.

All new leeves are finishing to replace at 100% in low level of New Orleans???
 
No, not all the levees in the New Orleans area are fixed. There will be some serious damage in New Orleans area.

However, its the area about 100 miles west, the home of the true Cajuns, that will get some castrophic damage.

Just like anyone would live in Cheaspeake Virginia-- it's "home" for a lot of the people.

"There is no place like home"-- and for some of these people, New Orleans is home for them, knowing they are below sea-level.
