They just ordered a voluntary evacuation for all of south Louisiana. That means I'm gonna have to drive from San Antonio, nine hours to Lafayette, Louisiana, pick up my kids and drive nine hours back. :eek3:

Drive safely. But, please take the storm seriously. It's up to a category 4 now and could get stronger as it enters the Gulf.

"could"??? It will, trust me. I've been following tropical storms for 20 years.

All of you in that area take care. I'm watching the evaucations on CNN. Scary stuff.

Aye!

We're under a tropical storm warning. As Gustov goes towards Cuba, it's outer bands have reached us. Key West is approximately 90mi from Cuba. I live about 120mi from Cuba; or a little further up from Key West.

Here, it's windy and rainy. No big deal, but I don't want to be anywhere near the hurricane force winds.

I just saw a TERP at press conference. I thought that was cool. Maybe it's just me since I don't watch tv much but seems like this is rare to see terp like that at emergency press conference.

The outer bands, now some more of the hurricane are already up here. It blew and rained hard when we were at the Ft. Myers Chuck E. Cheese's. The weather here right now is wet and cloudy. It wiill be that way for the whole weekend.

145 mph, five away from Cat 5. This is a monster hurricane just like Katerina.

now it Cat 4 so far but may be go to Cat 5 for next day.. or so..

yes gas will be effect due to gulf mexico oil rig building on the ocean.. they are closed and leave... that is why it costs us more.. ouch.. i dont blame that.. just accept that reasons.. but if other reasons.. come on.. rme!

*shudders*

I surely don't want to go through that again!

For y'all in Louisiana/Texas--be safe!

Hi, I live in San Antonio too, and I hope you have a safe trip there and back. This hurricane is going to be a big one!

I'll continue to watch the coverage. I know it doesn't help much, but you guys will all be in my thoughts during this crisis.

Oh, yes, please stay safe. They had a thing on the news earlier this week about the levees in New Orleans and how people were starting to fall into the old trusting habit. They need to take it seriously as this could be a bad one, again...

I hope it doesnt hit New Orleans with Cat 4 or 5 winds.

Everyone pls be safe and leave if u have to. Do not stay and try to ride this storm out.

I cant believe it's upgraded to Category 4, and they believe it will be Cat 5 by the time it hits land. Goodness, hope everyone will leave the danger zones by then!

Indeed, I hope everyone in the area will be as safe as possible.

It's going to be really bad out there. I just hope the resources down there are as prepared as they say are to be.

All of those of you affected, I will keep in my thoughts and prayers to come out of this unscathed.

My prayers go to everyone who will be in Gustav's path. I do hope everyone is taking this seriously and have already evacuated. I have been through a cat 5 hurricane in 2004 and I know what it is like. It is scary.

My family in Grand Cayman were lucky that Gustav wasn't a cat 4 when it passed through the Cayman Islands last night. They have received some damages but Cayman Brac and Little Cayman were the hardest hit though.

MY STUPID EX-WIFE!!! AHHH!!! I called and told her that I was coming down to get our kids. So, what does she do? She evacuates, with my kids, and doesn't tell me where she is going! I called her house - no answer. Cell phone? She turned it off. This is her way of making me worry about my kids throughout the storm.
