I am just looking for some devices that would alert me when someone knocked the door and something that tells me that the TTY has a phone call etc. Do you have one at home, what is it? Any suggestions?

I still have my business in selling tty equipments and signalers. Sonic Alert signalers are good quality. You can use combined signalers for both of doorbell button and TTY or videophone. See info on it below.

DB200 Deluxe Wireless Doorbell, Telephone and Intercom Signaler

But I don't know that you have some deaf Australian manufacturers to sell signalers???

Yes, we do, but they are really slow to get back to me. Only I need to find something that is suitable that I can find the same match in Australia.

I recently ordered the Krown Door Knock 400 Signaler from SoundBytes.com. I am hard of hearing and this signaler has the option of a loud (105db I think) alert with the strobe light. You can also put it on your doorknob and if someone tries to open the door, it will flash/sound. Soundbytes.com seemed to have some cool gadgets and the prices weren't too bad.
Heck, I even found a button that says "Please speak clearly and look at me - I am hard of hearing". I am getting pretty damn tired of constantly reminding the customers I work with to look at me or flag me down in the store. Then they complain I'm ignoring them! So I'm going to wear it to work and just point to it...lol Off topic, sorry, but YEAH go visit Soundbytes.com.

Did it work for you?

What is your household voltage rating in Australia? 120v 60hz or 220v 50hz??

Catty

I am not sure because the plugs are different. So you may have to ask deaf friends nearby?

120v 60hz

LakeTahoe, it doesn't matter if the plugs are different. We have special plugs for the U.S versions to convert with the Australian ones ;)

You might want to check your signaller to see what hz it uses. Sometime if it uses 50 hz and you plug it in 60 hz, it may not work well due to fequency phase. But if it did work then see how far it can transmit to receiver.

Another option, If you are familiar with house wiring to fusebox, plugging it where closest to fusebox, the better receiver will get signal. Sometime big home (like my house) sometime wired more than 100 ft and signal attunated (reduced) and receiver getting confused signal and it flickers that annoys me.
My wife got a free wireless Sonic Alert (doorbell/telephone transmitter w/ wireless doorbell transmitter). I plugged receiver in our bedroom and wireless doorbell transmitter rigged to door bell chime and sits on top of doorbell chime shell (I didn't care about apperance tho). It works like a charm. My own Doorbell/telephone transmitter (not wireless) which was situated in basment had problem reaching Sonic Boom clock/receiver. It flickers or vibrator pulses randomly. So I unplugged and remove it from service ( on same day when My wife got new wireless doorbell/telephone transmitter) and save it as a backup in case my wife's new wireless doorbell/telephone transmitter fails.

You might want to make sure there are NO surge protector strips or charger w/ surge protector built in plugged in same socket where receiver plugged into. It can "strip" the signal before reaching trasnsmitter. Laptop charger have built in surge protection and it'll do likewise. So you need to experiment by unplugging surge protectors and see if receiver works normally. If it did then try plugging power surge strip or adapter into socket at different location. Last thing is DONT plug in receiver or transmitter into power surge strip!!! LIke I mentioned recently, it'll strip signal from any signalling devices.
That's how I found out when I plugged my laptop charger on same socket where SA's receiver plugged at same socket. I missed phone calls and doorbell, my kids are my alerter. I decide to plug charger to different location and SA receiver finally work normally.

So hope you can take my advice.

Thanks
Catty

I have been looking for one but I would like have some chime box that can alert instead have implant on wall and people walk by and know, ah Deaf resident live there.

I could like have some community quiet as everyone else.

I have trouble with decide which one.

1. chime doorbell alert
2. VP incoming call for each room not the struggle setting or conflict with other device.

Answer will greatly help! :)

Visual Alert System with a Chime

Sonic Alert - America's Leader in Visual Alerting Systems

Click on Combination Doorbell and Telephone signaler at the website.

When the doorbell button is pushed it will chime and flash. It also sets off my bed alarm made by the same company. My doorbell system still works with the intercom system in my condo as it is magnetic. I simply velcroed it over the intercom and it picks up the magnetic field when the intercom is pushed downstairs outside of my condo.

Then when the phone rings I not only get the phone ringining but the lights go off on set up Sonic locations where I have various lamps in the house. It also triggers my bed alarm too so I don't miss calls if I am sleeping or running around the house. I have the DB 200.

I absolutely LOVE my Sonic Alert signalers !!!
I have ones that send a remote signal all over my home so I can be alerted for the doorbell, TTY/Phone, and my Sonic Boom alarm Clock!

They work very very well, you can add additional devices and they really last (I've had mine for 10years)

How about a wireless video doorphone intercom

I think you need a wireless video door phone intercom

Using this doorbell intercom system, indoor unit can monitor all thing outdoor by audio, vide, also take voice communication with guests visit, achieve unlock control function, all the outdoor machine and indoor communications use wireless transmission to achieve, simply equipment installation , high system sensitivity, wide use range.

Can you elaborate on this ? Are you looking for something that has both door and phone on same device ? If so, clairty works great for me so far. I have both the AM6000 and AM100. The AM100 does exactly what you are looking for. The AM6000 adds more features tht makes the extra cash worth the money to add on later in future when funds comes in like clock, clock alarm, vibrator, baby signaler, smoke alarm, etc.

This is a old thread and was for my flat when I moved out two years ago - rhettsmile brought up this thread from the dead and no longer need this thread today. I have got what I needed. :)

I build and designed one and I am happy with it. It is actually invisible, and because I own my home so I can do whatever I want. The only rooms that it is obviously is in my garage and laundry room. Hiring professional to do this won't be cheap, easily over $1,000 per system.

I was able to do that because I have certificate on Electricity, no longer doing business. Now focusing on what I am doing right now.
