Video phones, wireless routers, connections?

aha you don't have family members that works with train. I have several family members working for train. Engineer job is just to make locomotive run or stop, the conductor responsibility is to verify that all cars are properly connected and brakes are connected properly then give the engineer a go ahead or stop whatever.

Same analogy, if customer has issue with their VP or computer, they are the conductor, and I am the engineer. I wanted all the information so I can make it go or not.

I think this is really stupid argument between you and me. And I think your just simply jealous that I have intensive experience with networking and cabling and connections. So, why not just fly off and have peace?

incorrect analogy.

in your case - you are talking about cars and stuff not relevant to your job and acting like everybody is clueless.

and I don't need to tell the engineer everything that he already knows. if he wants to know more - he can ask me more. simple as that. I don't assume everybody is clueless.

I don't know why you had to make every thread more complicated and dramatic than it has to be. What's going on with you, man?

Good job! I was worried a mouse or chipmunk got into my walls and chewed on the wire as Marty will listen to my wall sometime. My condo was build in the 70's so the wires are old.
Well, critters can be causes of wiring problems, that's for sure.

so are you a train engineer? there you go.

indeed a really stupid argument to begin with and I have no idea why. you haven't shown me exactly what part of my post is wrong.

moving on if you can.

Lets make it clear in RED font below

in most cases - a videophone is connected to a router. there is no "special" or "specific" router for videophone only. it's pretty much the same router that many people are using. Most case is not true, generally yes.

Usually - if the VR technician deems your router as inferior or outdated.... he will provide you a new router for free that can handle both videophone and computers and also properly configure your router.

I can't see any other way except to connect videophone to a router. If the videophone quality got degraded by switching to a router even if it's new, sufficient, and properly configured... then you'll need to call cable guy to come over to increase a power/signal output (whatever it's called) to a house.

There IS way to connect Videophone without a router! Who says a videophone or a computer requires a router? The real reason for router is to share single IP address with multiple private host behind the firewall. In order to have Videophone AND computer to work, then gateway modem or router is needed. And calling cable guy ONLY if there is issue with modem or gateway modem and cable connection

:dunno:

I cant help it but have to post it here.

yea joining you.

pretty pathetic that he has resorted to childish behavior. no idea why or what for. maybe that's what happens when he's stuck in home all days long *shrug*

Reba, while the computer is off, in the little hole by the eject button, insert a paper clip, the drive should eject. If it doesn't, something is jamming the door. If you are past this issue, let me know.

I was talking about this cute gif. Nothing else or about other members.

I've known the paper clip trick for years (decades?). Especially for the old iMac that had a slot instead of a tray.

I haven't gone to friend's house yet; maybe tomorrow. So, I haven't actually seen the computer's situation.

Be sure to pack a lunch. :D

The videophone will work with most routers but make sure that you have enough open port to support the videophone. You need configure the port forwarding on router to make connection open to videophone.

Same with online gaming and torrenting require open connection, or NAT will say it is strict.

I use Sorenson VP and Facetime without any issue but most annoying is slower upload speed.
