vent for the personal loan and credit history

It's not free.. All credit breaus charge you money to check the credit history. They will say it's free until you find out it costs money, that's one gimmick many companies do.

I wish it was free here in washington state. That sucks!

When you being turned down for credit, you have right to get free credit report. That is Federal law. Of course, this does not mean unlimited amount of credit check.

There isn't much you can do when your turned down. Suppose you met a guy who ask you for your money, then you check that person's reference and noticed high risk, would you extend the money to that person? Lenders do the same thing.

sequoias,

I used to be a collections agent and a skip investigator and am aware of how to do things in regard to credit.

First off, the bank (s) did not give you your score because actually, it's none of your business. Keep reading. Second, you can get your score after you order your free credit report to be mailed to you. You do nothing online with your social security number. You release that on only three documents: the w-2, w-4 and the I-9. It doesn't go anywhere on a job application or any other application should you be applying for even a card to rent movies. If it is not a legal entity (bank or government), they don't get your ssn. Period.

Third, contact all three credit bureaus via phone and request your credit report. You will receive it in the mail. Experian will have your score and there will be a short form in their letter to you explaining how to request it. I believe it costs $8.00 USD. You should be able to have a copy of your credit report within three weeks, including your request for your fair isaac score. Again, do NOT order it online, it's for your safety and you trust NO ONE with your ssn.

I see okay. It sounds like a long process just to get a credit score and report. I'm very tired of long applications and paperwork It doesn't get any simpler than that.

I'm just going to the bank locally and get a loan in person. I will drive around and see what I can find.

thanks everyone.

Yeah, blamed on all con artist for causing mistrust. Bank got no choice but to protect their money.

diehardbiker, yup pretty much screwed up. Basically, its still better in old fashioned way, go to a bank locally and do whatever you need to do your business there than online. Sometimes you don't know what's going on online.

is there a law saying that you have the right to get fair credit act?

also is there a law saying that you have the right to get free credit report after you are turned down or approved from the bank or any loan facility? (i think there's 90 day time limit) i think there's a law (federal) for both of them.. correct me if i'm wrong.

The personal finance instructor at our local college recommends getting one annual report from each of the three agencies. That means you get three reports each year. What he explained is similar to this:

You are entitled to receive one free credit report every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies through the Central Source. It is entirely your choice whether you order all three credit reports at the same time or order one now and others later. The advantage of ordering all three at the same time is that you can compare them. (However, you will not be eligible for another free credit report from the Central Source for 12 months.) On the other hand, the advantage of ordering one now and others later (for example, one credit report every four months) is that you can keep track of any changes or new information that may appear on your credit report. Remember, you are entitled to receive one free credit report through the Central Source every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion – so if you order from only one company today you can still order from the other two companies at a later date.

If free credit reports are available in your state through the Annual Credit Report Request Service, you can request a free annual credit report by phone or mail and it will be mailed within 15 days.
