A guy on another forum is volunteering on the USS Iowa, helping restore it while it's tied up in LA. Here are some of his pics of the ship both above and below decks, all the important stuff to keep the ship running day to day that you'll never normally see.

Several months ago, USS Iowa was towed out of the S.F Area and moved down to L.A. to be placed as a floating museum.
 
I think I saw it few months ago. I have been on USS New Jersey and USS Missouri, they're awesome ship. Maybe I'll go on USS New Jersey someday.
 
Several galleries at the US Navy Base where I used to work has the name of several of these ships. The history at each one is fascinating.
