Use an umbrella when it is snowing?

Do you use an umbrella when it is snowing? Just saw some with them out watching the Today Show. It just reminded me of how sensible it seems when I see it but I never seem to think to do it myself.
 
Why not?...Ladies don't want their hair messed up and wet....even their clothes. Good idea!

:giggle:...dunno where you're at...but in Florida, the umbrella is for rain....especially in NE Florida. Umbrellas might be the world's most lost item...I've had thousands of them (it seems)...

I am in Southern Illinois. In rain I am inclined to use a hooded raincoat to keep me dry but have hands free. I guess it carries over. The umbrellas seem to be doing a better job of keeping flakes off of glasses for example though.

The women are TV and have to look neat at all time , I never see anyone using an umbrella when it's snowing out here. It would just be too much of a hassle.
 
In SC, umbrellas are for the rain or to shade from the sun.

In the North, umbrellas are probably fine for the snow as long as it's not too windy.
 
I have seen people use umbrellas when walking in the snow. If it works, nothing wrong with that. I tend to use my hood or a cap.
 
I don't think I did use umbrella during snow time, so I always wear cap, hoodie or both.
 
i did it not often. its too hassle if it were heavy windy or hold the other coffee in my hand while going to work. So I keep reminding myself to pick the right kind of jacket that has a hood. lol

I have lived in New England for years and I never seen a person use an umbrella during a snow storm or hail storm. People that live in New England are very hardy people.

You can not use the umbrella when it is very windy or break the umbrella in either snowstorm or hail storm. Just only use it for calm weather especially if it is raining or snowing.

I agree with Reba on this one. :cool2:
 
I've seen people use an umbrella in some light snow here. But I never use umbrella for anything. My hair gets wet...so...it dries...

Believe me , people DO NOT uses umbrellas in any snow storms in New England. I grew up here and none of elderly women neighbors used an umbrella when it snowed. People only use it for rain and they use beach
umbrellas when going to beach . People wear hats or put up the hood on their coat. Everyone know you can't use an umbrella is strong wind. I gave my umbrella to a homeless man , he was out the rain and I asked him if he wanted it .
 
umbrella? How you scrape snow or ice off your car during you hold the umbrella? Also snow don't always come from top, sometime come from side due wind.
 
Also, If you forget to bring glove with you and just put both hands in your pocket. I can't image you hold the umbrella without the glove at cold temp.

I know about hardy Yankees. My family's lived in New England since 1620. :)
