Can you make it a sticky issue? I find it urgent

If you got an email from anyone with the subject warning about the UPS, do not open it. It contains a virus. I was just warned from my mother. So be careful what you open. Don't know if that message is true tho but the virus....high risk but rather be safe.

Subject: FW: UPS, Urgent warning

IMPORTANCE: HIGH

Government Warning regarding purchase of UPS uniforms:

Please pass this around.

There has been a huge purchase, $32,000 worth of United Parcel Service (UPS) uniforms on eBay over the last 30 days. This could represent a serious threat as bogus drivers (terrorists) can drop off anything to anyone with deadly consequences. If you have ANY questions when a UPS driver appears at your door, they should be able to furnish VALID ID.

Additionally, if someone in a UPS uniform comes to make a drop off or pick up, make absolutely sure they are driving a UPS truck. UPS doesn't make deliveries or pickups in anything, except a company vehicle. If you have a problem, IMMEDIATELY call your local law enforcement agency right away!

TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! Tell everyone in your office, your family, your friends, etc. Make people aware so that we can prepare and/or avoid terrorist attacks on our people! Thank you for your time in reviewing this and PLEASE send to EVERYONE on your list, even if they are friend or foe.

We should all be aware!

Well, thanks! I would just rather be safe than sorry. You just never know what's out there especially with what s going on halfway across the world.

BTW there were a virus attached to the file.

If someone panics about virus, why not she / he trust the virus scanning program in the computer, like Norton AntiVirus program?

I think this thread is pointless because everyone should know better not to open their email if they do not know who sends this email from? what if its email or something like that? I always delete them if I do not know them. That is simple.

With Hotmail and Yahoo, it's not a problem. They both already have virus scan included and warn you before you can even download it. :thumb:

It may seem this way now Eternity, yet when AquaMaiden started this thread with good intentions of warning others...and also, UPS is a fairly well known entity...even though Brian pointed out with the link that he supplied here pointing out the bogus claim to this rumor...in this day, we can't take some things lightly and able to be forewarned and cautious especially knowing that there are some amount of activities being put forth this summer by terrorists, creating a higher level of security abroad since 9/11....

And of course, it's quite simple to hit the 'delete' key/function to obliterate such emails anyone don't know who the sender is or have doubts about a particular email....

Well said, Roadrunner! :ily:

Thank you AquaMaiden for the warning and for creating this thread, whether it is real or not, it's better to be safe! :ily:

You're very welcome...glad to know some people are taking this serious and cautious :wiggle:

Hey i'm glad we have someone on the boards here that can over react very well. Hey interesting thing though, 32k$ worth of uniforms was bought on ebay, but it was several months ago, so this is also old news. Why do people freak out about viruses so much? Honestly. They have new viruses that dont even need to be sent via email, just from being online, they can use an exploit in your operating system to "push" the virus to you over your ip addy. So just being online isnt even safe anymore. And since most viruses dont do much anyways, why worry. My computer hasnt had a virus scanner on it ever. Anyone have any idea how much crap i've downloaded off p2p? I did a virus sweap not long ago and i found a few viruses, nothing big. I didnt even know they were there because they havnt ever done anything, and i'm a downloading whore. So, inconclusion: turn off your computer and go outside.

Thank you, Roadrunner for understanding my purpose....

You're most welcome! It's nice to see once in a while that someone might have some interesting tidbit of information that we may need to be concerned with or take note of whether it's a hoax or real...gathering information from one 'view' isn't enough to go on, yet if any of us is truly concerned with a specific situation, etc., we do have other 'channels' of checking out the proximity and validation of such information(s).... ;)

Another case of urban myth...

it is getting scarier and scarier each day to know what to trust online..I've received many emails from my friends but they werent from them ..they were scam.

For instance, I got an email from my tax preparer and it was a scam with a virus. Some viruses get into address lists on the computer and email out to everyone on that list. So it is not always strange emails you cannot trust, but also from your friends or acquaintances too :(

what kind of virus are we talking here? G-virus? worm virus? or perhas even spyware?
