What would you do with an unwanted gifts?

I have always been getting unwanted gifts mostly from my mother who think that I am still a little girl. She give me clothes which is for teenagers and she even made me try one on. It was so embarrassing with people around and I could see through my hubby who was standing behind my mother laughing through his teeth. Also sometimes she give me things I don't likely to use like a giant stickon butterfly to put on a wall. There is no where in my house suitable for it. :ugh3: Also sometimes people give me things that don't interests me or I don't have a need for it.

What would I do with unwanted things? I give them away to friends or give it to a charity.

I dread what will I get from my mother this christmas. :ugh3: She never ask me what I want. I have always ask her what she want and buy her one.

Can't you have a little chat with your mom? Tell her you would much rather have a gift certificate from your favorite store. I am sure she will be happy to know what makes YOU happy and satisfied.

I am a grandmother many times over and I have learned over the years that gift certificates are the best. A certificate for a nice restaurant enables a married people to have a night out at a discount!

I have been lucky enough not to recieve gifts that I dont need. My mom usually sends me money or gift certificates which are a blessing cuz I am always BROKE after the holidays!! If you recieve a gift that is of no use to u, maybe exhange it at the store where that gift was purchased? If cant, then ask your friends if they want it or give to charity.

every christmas I get a sweater or two that I hate because I don't like sweaters that have stretch on bottom, making it look like a puffy sweater. I prefer straight sweater without stretch. I just give them away to like Deseret Industries.

Or keep them and recycle them by giving them as gifts to someone else who might derive enjoyment out of them. Warning: make sure your name tag is not on the gift and also ensure you're not giving the gift to someone who gave you that one, hehe.

I have already did tell her not to get me clothes and things that is no use for me. I told her that I am happy to have a lotto ticket in a card, a jar of boiled sweet or small box of chocolate. Still she get things I do not need as a present. Oh well...she is an eldery lady and tends to forget things easily.

You are lucky! I wish my mother would do that too. If I get unwanted gift, I give it to my friends or to charity.

lol...I understand your feeling about the sweaters is not to your liking. That's wise to give them away. :)

Yep that's what I do is giving it to my friends as a gift if it is suitable for them. If not, I just give it to the charity. Yes I do take the name tag off them and make sure I don't give it back to the person again. lol

Why not to take it back to shop after checking the labels first and filling up the Refund/Exchange Form, and show your ID because of no dockets as proof of payment, and they will give you their 3 months Voucher to replace something from their store or money back if your lucky.

I agreed it is easy way to tell your mum that you only want a gift voucher for Boxing Day Xmas sales shopping spree!!

If your Mum is won't listen you in first place, I would open the present and saying "Oh bugger, I was hoping for a gift voucher" and don't make an issue out of it, and just LEAVE the present behind at her place. You refused to take it home with you. It will give your Mum a message!!

Good luck!!:fingersx:

Urg! me tooo....I also don't like wool sweaters cause it makes me itch!!

My dearest Koala, are you able to return it back to the store to either trade for another one or get a refund? I do that sometimes if I don't like the clothes I get from Christmas or if it's too small or big just like I do with my boys...

Oh yes...many times! Now they realized we want just the $ or gift cards. So we can go out and get what we wanted or just give all to my son! It worked for us. My dad tend ask me this or that before get it. I told him gift cards will do. He said oh ok. Save on cost on the shipping!

If I get unwanted gifts, I usually donate it.

IF someone reject & reject the

If unopened, that is different. Yea, I would consider that rude cuz I would feel that the person rejected me as a person too.
