unfreaking believable...

I don't know when I can really afford to pay the repair but obviously it will take time before I can really do so...since the holidays is around the corner so I guess I would have to be without playing MW2 for awhile.

How about warranty? It was not your fault and you should not pay anything. What your firmware version?

Just be wait till Sony upgrade another new firmware to solve your problem in future.

Firmware already coming in last week. I already updated last week. My firmware version is 3.10.1 now, i think!

Sadly, I've had my PS3 since 2007 and the warranty on that obviously expired. It was only a one year warranty and my firmware update was 3.01 until they did release the latest firmware update afew days ago and I did update it to 3.10 and no luck...it still does not read any discs.

Yea seems like Sony rushed the update or didn't take in much research before releasing the update or something...*sigh*

@JClarke.. I know for sure L4D2 was banned in Australia. IDK about MW2, but it is possible, because there is a scene in MW2 that a lot of people cannot stomatch. MW2 is banned in Russia. I'd google 'Australia MW2' or something n see.

The orginial L4D2 is banned, thou however it will be editied before shipping to Australia.

It's weird and stupid thou...since the first one was uneditied and unbanned in Australia but not the second one...wtf?

So...I got the email from Sony consumer service. I tried all the steps he told me to do. Clean the disc with a cloth, clean out the vents with the vacuum cleaner, and go to safe mode and do the file system restore or whatever it's called...and yet, nothing worked. The disc icon still DOES NOT SHOW. So he said if none of them worked, then ship it to Sony for a $150 repair and I said fuck you. -_-

Okay no...I didn't really tell him that but...I could have.

*sigh* I need to finish my christmas shopping first before sending it in.
 
well, good luck, this is one of the reason why i dislike consoles, if it shits it really shits, with lappys or PCs, something goes wrong, source the fault, take the part(s) out replace it, and/or theres chance you can continue to use the machine minus a feature (say a faulty dvd burner)...emulating dvds is the real fun part too , hell lately ive been emulating bluerays, one file for ONE film is 6.55 GB!!


LOL i wish you'd said that you would have post some interesting story....as the aftermath of "fuck you" dammit....

LOL, dream on, a action class against some of the biggest mulitnational corporation?? thats a tall order, they literally have their own armies, securities, spies, funds like its probably greater than some banks! they have tabs on reserve lawyers handling anything from civil, international trades (commerce), finalising deals, litigations from anything minor cases to major scales of possible scandelous upheavals like exploitations in the name of outsourcing...the list goes on

in a sense i feel that corporates are almost like a country of their own but without specific representation of any polico-geographic base except early historical aspects of the firm's origin

You should file a lawsuit against Sony and need find way that could call organization to help for seeking legal appeal so Sony must pay repair, not you due faulty firmware.

MS did extended the warranty for RROD and E74 but why not Sony?

Cause Sony's a bunch of greedy dicks. To think the PS3 used to be 600 bucks...and now that it priced down to 300 bucks they are still greedy for a little more cash...that if the system they manufactured fucked up, they expect u to pay 'em up before fixing it which seems to be...doing that on purpose.
 
So...a friend told me to try geek squad, the cloest place to repairing your gaming consoles, and I called there, asking them if it is possible for them fixing gaming consoles such as the PS3 and the videogaming troubleshooting specialist said yes and I explained to him about the situation and he said it may need to be cleaned out or something and I said what if it needs to be replaced? he said it depends on the store on whats left in stock or something so...the prices vary depending on the situation.

However...I don't know if I would trust geek squad. I would need your opinons here people...is geek squad pretty good with gaming consoles?
