Chinese crested breed is one to bet on in this contest

PETALUMA, Calif. - Gus the dog has three legs, one eye and no hair, except for a white tuft on the top of his head. He's a real winner.

The pedigree Chinese crested won the World's Ugliest Dog contest on Saturday at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Northern California.

His owner, Jeanenne Teed, brought Gus all the way from St. Petersburg, Fla., to compete for the dubious distinction

After the excitement of the moment, Teed characterized her dog's reaction: "Well, I think right now he's ready for a nap."

The Chinese crested breed is a popular choice in this annual contest. Last year's champ, Elwood, was a Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix.

Gus' owner won $500 and will be flown to New York to appear on "CBS This Morning." The event will be aired on the Animal Planet network in October.

It's mean and cruel contest like this.

I have seen Chinese Crested breed dog at town in real life last year and remember about other thread somewhere... Yes I touch him and must say that he has a such beautiful personality.

Yes, it's rare to have dog like that until I saw one for a first time last year. I have seen and touch that dog in real life and must say that dog have such lovely personality and look cute eyes when he look at me. .

You are so lucky to touch a dog like that, yupp those are very rare.
 
I've seen it that kind of dog...did I touch it? I don't think I did but I may did I don't remember lol
 
I think the Chinese Crested is an interesting breed. I have read the hairless variety need to have their skin oiled. Not sure if that is true.
 
Seems like a pretty cruel contest like animal cruelity is involved somehow.
 
China is fully known of infamous on animal abuse.
 
well the dog might be ulgy.. but its more loyal & friendly than lot woman that I know...
