U.S trip 2015

I'm due to move houses soon, and focus on saving money for my own sake, with the budget I have here, I may be able to look at returning to the U.S in 2015 after a 5 year hiatus, I'm overdue to visit my AD friends.

I am creating this thread because I would like my AD friends, to throw me ideas and whatever that would be worth considering, anything is worth considering to save money and travel the best way possible and enjoy the fullest. I wouldn't mind travelling by trains, flights, ships whatever. It is the best way to enjoy travelling in the cheapest way possible, to enjoy the most of my trip.

I am looking at 4 weeks maximum.

The cities I plan to visit:

NYC (obviously, need more time to explore this time)
Washington D.C
Indianapolis
Boston, Ma

(This list will be added as I discuss with the discretion of the moderators)

An AD meet v.2 would be awesome too, if Alex permits because Alldeaf 2010 was bloody awesome!

I would like to meet you in Indianapolis. You need to visit to Indiana School for the Deaf, DHH happy hours bars and more.

You can visit to Chicago and Florida.

In Indy have an Amtrak train to Chicago.

When is the best month for you visit to US?

I know a lot about ISD, a very close friend of mine was a former student there, and her brother attends there.

I had a look at the Amtrak, I traveled one to NYC from D.C with Gangis (AD'er here) it was a real good ride.

I don't know which month is best for the US, might be likely early 2015 to summer time. Depends on the budget and timing.

Your Summer (time) season is southern hemisphere?

That's awesome. What made you put Indianapolis on your list? If you need some pointers about Indy, gimme a holler if u would like to. :D

A close friend of mine and her brother has been buggering me to visit Indy for the past 5 years, so I'm putting it first on the list to check it out. I know Indy has Indy 500 hosted there. ;) Any pointers you think worth investing, let me know!

Cool! Yes, Indy 500 is always on the last weekend of May. If you are a fan of car racing, it is the "capital" of car racing world. Brickyard 400 is also hosted here at the same race track, usually in July. There are a lot of other places in Indy that is fun to be at. There's the Children's Museum which is the best in the nation - even though its geared for kids, its also enjoyable for adults. Indianapolis Art Museum, Crown Hill Cemetery are where President Benjamin Harrison and the infamous mafia mob boss, John Dillinger buried at. There is a canal walk that goes for 3 miles - very urbanized and gorgeous - right through the heart of the downtown where you can rent segaways, gondoliers, or just walk there. There is more to list but thats all I can think of for now, haha. I might be biased but, I love being here in Indy.
 
In Indy have a Children of Museum, Circle Centre Mall at Indy, Lucia Oil Stadium, Indy 500 is at Speedway, you can enjoy tour the downtown, Broad Ripple and more. You can go to Keystone Fashion Mall and have an Apple Store.

If you said it's early summer would be on June. I might know your friends from Indy if you name and I will know. You don't say name this thread. :)

Usually our summer months tend to be more expensive to travel. Most public schools in the USA go from Sept. and end in June. So the months June, July and August are busy travel months. In my opinion October is the best month to travel. Weather is not too hot or too cold yet in most parts of the USA. This is my opinion of course, others may think differently. Exiting times for you ahead, good luck!!!!

Actually it is cheaper for us, ;) I pay all these travel things here in Australia and if I do my proper research I will be able to pull some strings to shell less ;)

Been to San Francisco in '99 & I get in LA when I land and I have been to LA like 3 times :)

I would suggest you go to Trader Joe's store. There have an Australian food. Traders Joe is available in the USA. You can find a Trader Joe's website and look for locations. :)


I have a question for you. Have you ever eat an Outback Restaurant in USA? It is an Australian cuisines.
