Helped a friend today.... this truck has a history fact about South Carolina where they are known for Civil War history, Confederate Submarine H.L. Hunley:

The Hunley, nearly 40 feet (12 m) long, was built at Mobile, Alabama, and launched in July 1863. She was then shipped by rail on August 12, 1863, to Charleston, South Carolina. The Hunley (then called Fish Boat) sank on August 29, 1863, during a test run, killing five members of her crew. She sank again on October 15, 1863, killing all eight of her second crew, including Horace Hunley himself, who was aboard at the time, even though he was not a member of the Confederate militia. Both times the Hunley was raised and returned to service.

Those U-Hauls state history trucks are cool. I had one when I moved from SC to NC but can't remember what state was on it (but I think it had an AZ license plate lol). I don't think the U-Haul trailer I got when I left AZ had anything like that though.

Did the refueling of the rental trucks at work tonight...

I am a History buff, and those subs were dangerous to the people aboard... one reason is, the persons aboard were the man power to propel them, the hazard was.... you guessed it... no air supply !!! they suffocated due to lack of oxygen, passed out, sank and drowned.

The CSA Hunley was one of a kind. It did have a snorkel for air, and was never completely submerged. The Hunley accomplished its mission by sinking the Union ship. They're still trying to figure out what happened after the attack, and why they sank. They're still examining it at the conversancy.

The crew are all buried in Charleston's Magnolia Cemetery.

They had a huge funeral for them, with a lot of reenactors.

(No captions but there's no voice over; just music.)
