CrazyPaul, is it illegal for federal workers, including USPS employees to striking over labor dispute?

Gotta love this thread. We were discussing about Twinkies going bye-bye and now we are agruing about union. lol

Well, behind the lighthearted snack food, there is a corporate giant mixing it up with a demanding union. That battle is bigger than the food itself, or we would not be discussing this situation.

What a wonderful way to keep the poor in dead end poverty. Someone's vote cost the country 12,000,000 jobs.

Brilliant!

Another dot you haven't connected is that a certain political party warned that the unions were destroying jobs. Yet, that warning was mocked and ridiculed.

It is all about corporate greed. Don't go down the political road, or discussion is over.

Not true, there are more reasons to destroy the jobs, really more than just unions only.

I disagree with your philosophy on unions.

I see unions as necessary, however there are good and bad unions, just like good and bad corporations.

Unions use coercion, intimidation and threats - how, in your opinion, is that "good"?

I disagree with you and you are obviously anti-union.

Like I said above, there are GOOD and BAD unions, so not much difference from corporations like Walmart did intimidated and threaten their employees.

Are you sure?
*shrug* sure. All I have to do is refer to business cases for past few decades. It proved my statement. hundreds of them.

Friendly's. Papa John's. Bennigan's. Boston Market. Denny's. Sizzler. 7-Eleven. and so many more and you don't even know about it. no big deal. who cares? people's just getting all excited and panicky simply because it's just much easier now to spread rumor thru social medias.

I've already done research paper on this very subject in college.

Anyone can buy out and shut down and use factory for something else. Has it happened? Oh of course. Your too overconfident, disappointments and surprise is awaiting for you.
feel free to prove me wrong. I don't think you really understand how it works.

Perhaps you might wanna take a look at what Quaker Oats did to Snapple. There's a reason why Quaker ended up getting owned by Pepsi.

*chuckle*

Jiro, good to see you back and hope you are doing well after Sandy, but NOT TRUE. The company is asking for the right to liquidate. The products will be sold, but the workers will probably not be hired by other companies due to over saturation in the junk food market.

lol perhaps you should read a little more carefully in this issue. they are not liquidating Twinkies or something like that. they are thinking of liquidating its assets.... meaning something else like a company it acquired or whatsoever.

They are closing the bakery outlet in Des Moines, and the bakery itself in Cedar Rapids.

I believe they are actually going out of business. Their employees in Iowa have been terminated.

typical procedure in case of bankruptcy. these outlets are going out of business but Twinkies itself is not.

I am not anti-labor. I am just pointing out that unions are pointless. They have ceased to be relevant ever since the 50's.

They have also run out mom and pops.

The unions are worth because they have great protection for workers, so that's important for me. If you don't like union so don't work at unionized workplace, that's simple, so I don't need your anti-union view goes in my throat.

true that. now they're just a bunch of mafia gimme gimme gimme ruffians

You didn't "ask" anything. You said that employment was run by government.

I didn't say it. You said it.

no... I "asked" if a company was being run by government.

no... I "asked" if a company was being run by government.

Then that depends on if it is a government owned corporation or state owned enterprise (and the other numerous names you can call them).

Ah, not affected at all I see. All good, here is a quote from your article:

"Yes, Hostess Brands today began liquidation."

"And it's true that the last batches of Hostess Brand(ed) treats were sent out last night, and the ovens were fired down."

I don't think anyone on the forum said there would be no more twinkies.

Well, good that things are back to normal.
