I'm looking into getting a new TV, - any recommending brands that anyone suggest? I'm looking into around 20 to 30 inch flat screen TV.

I also will have digital cable soon so which TV works best with digital cable?

Thanks :)

I see your word "flat screen"
Almost all TV (tube) are flat.
They have two different type standard TV or Widescreen TV.
Which one do you prefer to have LCD or Plasma or Tube (with built-in ATSC "digital")?

If, you want widescreen like 26 inches is almost equal to tradition TV is 20"

We have 32" LCD in our bedroom. It is almost same size as 27" tradition TV.

32" LCD HDTV is finest size as primary entertainment for home.

32" to 40" LCD HDTV is a good size for living room entertainment. :) I don't know what brand you prefer, so I don't really know what you really want. Some people prefer Sony and others prefer Tobisha just for example.

I don't really follow any specific brands. I've always taken good care of whatever television I have and they've lasted a very long time.

The oldest television I have is from 1988. It still works great. :)

Ah yes that's what I'm looking for and I see Best Buy have Sony and it's not bad price for this one.

Sony - BRAVIA 32" 720p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV

My friend suggested LG brand, but I think Sony is good enough. Any thoughts?

Again, thanks all for the input and feedbacks :)

Then save money enough to buy new television with ATSC support because you won't get through OTA after Feb 2008. And you won't get ground-cable on May 2011. Or is that 2012. Hmm...

I think Sony is good enough....Sony Bravia is a good HDTV. It costs a bit more, though.

i have 37" LG lcd hdtv and 27" westinghouse hdtv. both are good. i am working on to get 47" hdtv for my large family rm. you need to go to measure the size which fits the size of HDTV. for instance, my 37" hdtv is too small in my fam room when u sit between you and tv like about 10ft even cc or subtitles are kinda small for me. probably i need glasses. anyway 47" hdtv wud be better size for my fam room.

I own 42" LCD. I already check between 42" and 47" both almost same to me from my view and just cost more so I pick 42" lcd over from store.

Just trust your own eyes for size, color, and quality over brand. Brand do not matter to me. I just shocked lot of my friends really like my LCD for quality over their LCD with famous brand like Sony, westinghouse, etc. My brand is not really famous but good quality and good price.

:ty: for the link that is helpful info :)

I probably go for 32" TV since it's for upstair room, and it's not that big like family room.

Yes, you're correct, I had problem with certain brand as I thought price is good. I am wrong as it turn out size on closed caption is too small for me and it won't go that big enough. I end buy bit expensive one that appreciate my eyes while able enjoy watch it.

I recommend LCD, almost regardless of brand over Plasma. The only time you should go Plasma is if you can afford a 50+ inch tv. I would recommend making sure whatever tv you buy has the in/out cables you want, such as maybe HDMI, Component(this is pretty standard nowdays), VGA, DVI, etc. IT ALL depends on what you plan to use, DVD player, Game Console, and since you mentioned cable HD tv, I recommend a LCD with Component(Red, Green, Blue) or HDMI. Most cable providers are ready to provide you with Component connections for a HD picture.

I would like to put on the point about LCD that it has more long life and less watts than plasma.

Well, I don't really watch cable. :)

I bought my Sharp 32" LCD HDTV (With built in HD Tuner) - Calvin, does your TV have built in tuner, no?
