Just thinking. Does TV advertising affect you or people you know?

Do you buy Taco Bell, Budweiser, Bounty or Tide, etc the same week after you see it on TV?
Do you buy a car you saw on TV?

:hmm:

sometimes I do sometimes i dont. sometimes like i see any new drink or new food that i have not notice anything at the food shop because i focus on my list what i need to grab and wasn't pay attention to new food or drink. When i see the tv ads, and i was like oh cool i should check it out.

I don't think I buy stuff so much as become inspired by ads to want to do something similar... not necessarily with that product that was just advertised.

There was a terrible, naughty ad here where they showed bacon being fried and the voiceover was talking about bread and ketchup and.... ohhhmmmmm you just craved a bacon sandwich after seeing it. I don't even remember who the sponsor was (must have been the bread company)

If anything I get more annoyed by TV ads, so I tend to not get interested by what they're advertising. Sometimes if it's a food ad and there's something good advertised I'll be tempted, but I rarely watch TV nowadays as it is. Any TV I do watch is usually on demand, so I guess I'm slowly removing adverts from my viewing habits.

Some TV ads do annoy me. So many of them are about food/soda products or car ads....And the one about J.W. Wentworth is one of the worst...("I want my $$ NOW!")....And whenever ur watching a show where the host says..."and the winner is...or the results are"...they automatically go to a break and another silly TV ad....

But, yeah, I do see some products on TV that I will try, even buy if interested. But for the most part, whenever a TV ad comes up, it's time to get a snack or use the bathroom...:giggle:

the only tv ads that get noticed are
restaurants advertising specials and new meals.
teasers from the next episode of favorite shows.

mostly just browse the tv program guide seeking what else to watch later in the day while an ad is on. when watching shows with my wife, we use commerical breaks to discuss the show that is on.

american advert breaks drive me mad,to many to often..thank god for bbc no adverts

Toys got me all way when I was kid. "oh my god oh my god, I want that awesome toys!"

Now, I'm into food.

Restaurant ads and new foods definitely influence me to try the advertised product.

I'll say I do NOT buy a produce from a company whose ad I see displayed sponsoring a program I do not care for.
On the other hand, if I see "closed captioned sponsored by............."
I'll remember the product or service.

what are peoples views about product placement in the tv shows?

Like Gerber products in The Walking Dead. I'd rather get a Woodsman's Pal from the original manufacturer, not the Gerber version, regardless of it stopping a walker on the show.

Everyone that sees TV ads make choices based on those ads. Some people are unaware of how the ads affect them. Subliminal messages trigger responses in consumers.

And those TV commercials about erectile dyfunction/anti-depressents, etc., .... and the god-awful side-effects?...Seems there is a commercial and antidote for every imaginable symptom in the world!...There's a PILL for anything and everything....

What kind of subliminal messages do you have in mind?
Any examples?

Yeah; cure dry eye, at the risk of cancer or stroke.

Viagra long term use leds to hearing lost.
Lipitor long term use leds to memory lost.

Lets say a person like Jane Fonda is the spokesperson for a produce, I sure the hell at touching that produce.
