The hurricanes last longer than they used to. In the past, the hurricanes typically lasted about an hour or two. Now, the hurricanes last what seems like forever. Anyone else notice this? Or am I just remembering incorrectly?
I don't think the hurricanes last any longer (on average) than they ever did. Media coverage of said hurricanes, however, goes on for-EVAH!!! It's both a blessing and a curse to know so far ahead of time that we are going to get hit with one.
The last couple days when we were at the beach, the weather was just gorgeous. The evening before we left, we went for a nice long walk on the beach, and ran into one other couple - whom we had met before, oddly enough, also the evening before the last hurricane.
As we were driving out on Friday, weather was still beautiful.
I couldn't help but think of the Native Americans who had lived in the area 300 years ago. Hurricanes must have quite literally come out of the blue for them - from a clear blue North Carolina sky to whoosh!! in the matter of a couple hours, when one would roll in.
This particular hurricane right this minute extends from the So. Carolina/No. Carolina border all the way up to Maine. That is one HELL of a distance, so the media is covering it all up and down the East coast. It is going to seem interminable until it is all over.
Just saw pics of the sound which is located at the end of one of the streets of my subdivision. All the water has blown out of it! When that happens, it comes back in with a huge gush.
Amazing to have all this real-time coverage from various sources.
