Since, I'm a single mother and have almost 7 months old daughter.

I'm thinking about to go on some traveling in 2009 with my daughter, maybe some of friends who have their own kids(or not) to some of states which it'd be enjoyable with my daughter since she will be one year old in May 2009. Also, I think about to taking my two nieces who is will be 12 and 10 years (march and may 2009) and also maybe bring their brother who will be 2 yrs old in September to somewhere but not sure where.

1 traveling with my daughter, maybe with a few friends and their kids
2x traveling with my daughter, nieces, nephew and maybe friends with/out their kids if they wants to come along
Maybe once traveling for just me and my daughter.

It's for OUT of state since we live in Michigan. So, maybe you guys can give me information which states better to visit for kids and me and my friends with/out their kids.

So thanks!

I can only offer one advice I use for myself.. best piece of advice ever used.

Take LOTS of diaper wipes!! They are great to use for anything from spit-up to runny diapers and sticky hands!

I love diaper wipes and use it myself not for my behind but for anything you name it! I use it.

Thanks, it sounds great advice. I will have diaper wipes with me all the time once I'm going on the trip when I have a plan and know where to go then :D

Family vacation on the road? Refer to National Lampoon's Family Vacation with Chevy Chase as your tentative guide :D

Be sure to bring extra clothes and towel in case if kids wouldnt puke in the car!! what a joy! haha

how about checking out the zoo's, some small rides for your girls age, some states have something interesting sightseeing tours, some other states doesnt have. google is the key to check it out if you plan to see your friends in a specific states.

=)

Liza, it's funny

Frisky Feline;

Sounds good but I want to know WHICH STATES that are good to visit at.

another advice... bring toys LOL. otherwise the kids will be bored and get cranky. and definitely lot of baby wipes... mrs bucket is absolutely right on that one LOL.

as for where... hmm theres washington d.c. with lot of museums... but that might be a bit difficult wiht a bunch of kids but there is a lot of cool museums for kids and adults both.

in ohio theres a great park somehwere i believe is called cedar point? good for older kids.

and umm... let me think.. ill add more later when my mind finally start to work lol.

I do have a few list of a great family vacation spot:

Orlando, Florida They have theme parks, Disney World, Universal Orlando. They have beaches where kids can play in the sand.

Or camping, There is a great camp ground in Townsend, Tennessee. Where you'll see mountains, forests, river, they also have a playground for kids, swimming pool, horseshoe pits, basketball court, bicycle rentals and many more. :)

Or Water parks, Coney Island in Cincinnati, Ohio. They have a swimming pool, diving boards, water slides, rides, family roller coaster, bumper boats, pedal boats, golf court and much more.

water parks! i totally forgot about that lol yes that would be a great place to go for kids. i went there once but didnt play in there... it was more of a distance viewing and it does look lot of fun.

we always try to take our own snacks, it sort of saves money and time.
you don't have to stop in every town to get food.

I think the thing you might find hard about your vacation is you're taking 2 different age groups, 1-2 year old, and 10-12 year olds.
you're going to have to find something everyone will enjoy.
amusement parks might not be that great, because a lot of the rides the older ones might not be tall enough for, and the younger ones won't have anything to do.
so you might try to find something like a crayola factory, like I saw in "jon and kate plus 8" on TLC, all of their kids had a pretty good time.
they let them see how they make crayons and I think they let them color and play with some playdoh.

this is just my opinion though.

 it remind me...

We brought plenty of diapers and wipes with us, including pram on the plane to Side, Turkey when my youngest son was 2 years old... :giggle:

We were on road a lot to almost all of Europe by car... It's more comfortable and easy than plane... We can break a lot what we wants during long journey... until my both boys are diaper free, then travel with plane to oversea few years later after my first experience with my 2 years old youngest son to Side, Turkey...

If you decide for road... I would recommend you to take children to parks, beach etc. which is friendly for children only.

new york state

why not go to new york state ? we have 3 kids and love camping. we go to stateparks on our accesspass. maybe we can get together to like meet other though camping.
