Speaking to a deaf person

Now the ones who can hear have to be taught this for sure.

You are the teachers the ones that can not hear.

Send this one to all your hearing friends.

It does happen .

I do know what I feel like being deaf and it is not an easy task.

I just wondered about anyone else that would like to talk about being deaf and what kind of things you have run into being deaf I'm sure all would like to know.

A little story about me and what happened at Walmart.

I was putting my things on the tray for the out ward.

Then someone behind me said something to me ( I did not hear them) It was a black man I am told by a friend. He said to me there's enough room just pile it on. I'm in a hurry.

Then he said do you not talk to black people?

I read my friends lips and turned around to see him( in my pocket was a note saying I do not hear and I showed it to him.

I though I was going to have to fight him as he was mad but I gave him the handshake then turned around and all was good.

It does show you something eh. You get into trouble because they do not understand a deaf person. (Good job I had the written notice I was deaf eh..

Saves a lot of problems.

 Trainman

That's scary. Glad it worked out for you at the end. I imagine we miss a lot of things behind our backs or whenever we aren't looking. I often notice this when I'm looking down to pay at the cashier. My hearing son tells me I usually miss, "would you like plastic or paper" when they bag my groceries. My hearing son stood there saying nothing lol. The cashier/bagger repeated it again then getting no response, just do what they pick.

I love hearing those type of deaf stories like this. Makes us feel like we aren't alone.

Thanks for sharing that.

Yes Manga Reader we are not alone

Manga Reader that's why I have written up a little notice for the hearing people.

Pined to my shirt or had it on a string around my neck .

I am deaf please communicate with a written message to me.

It does work I just show them and they do write to me.

I hear with my eyes and I do lip read a little I call it hip reading

Be good now and I think we all got some stories to tell.

Trainman

Hope you like my posts

PS I do carry a pen and a writing pad with me for that notice.

I find also at fast food place I tell them what I would like then they come back and say again :giggle:
