Tom Brady's cursing spree indecent to lip-reading kids' parents

Go attend an NFL game and you'll hear fans using those words in stands.

Reba, I have a question, a little off topic. When you were interpreting and cursing/ swearing/ profanity was used, what did you do? I'm sure there are signs for such, did you have to use them?
I interpreted everything. Happily, those were extremely rare occurrences.

It's ironic that cursing/swearing/profanity is called "adult" language because it's used mostly in a non-adult manner. That is, it's used when people lose control of themselves, or lack sufficient vocabulary to express themselves, or to shock or entertain others--all expressions of immaturity or lack of education--not "adult" behaviors.

It's a shame that such coarse language is becoming more acceptable in the general public. People complain about second-hand smoke and auto pollution but seem comfortable with communication pollution dirtying their environment.

:wtflol: :wtf: And we can post this on all deaf so I guess it's acceptable here too. Everything is more acceptable today , look at all the ads on TV for smoking and women and men modeling underwear ,that was not something we saw growing up .

Kids language these days is out of this world...was watching Judge Judy the other day...she asked a 17 yr. old...."what does responsibility mean to you?...explain it"...he said..."Like....um...ahhh....Like...ummm"...Judge Judy admonished him as he could not say anything without saying the word "Like"......then there's "I's....and I'ma....it goes on and on....one of the worst is "I no got none".....
Damn!....unbelievable!

I was watching a court show and one woman told the judge she had a 'green' car then she spelled it out for the judge 'Gren!" The judge cracked a smile and was doing his best not to LOL! The woman did not correct herself she thought she spelled it correct. This was a grown woman too. I was like OMG ! You learn how to spell green in first grade.

My 9 year old knows all the profanity words but since we don't use them in the house, he doesn't use them in his daily vocabulary.

I did not use profanity words around my child but I am sure she heard them from older kids in school.

That and from tv and Internet. Some from us, adult but we teach him manners instead of saying , "no, u can't use them because they are bad words." We just focus on teaching him saying pls and thank you and be as much as role models as we can. If he catches us saying a profanity, we apologize to him. I did that with my daughter and she is almost 18 now and not big on using curse words herself.

We did not have internet when my daughter was younger and we did not watch a lot of TV , we went to park a lot with friends and their kid. And when my child did watch TV it was only shows for kids. Today we have cable TV and there are shows that have swearing . When my child was at preschool a teacher was surprise to hear my daughter say ' Please ' and 'thank you' b/c and when she had to made up a story about the photo of two kids with their mom my daughter gave a lot of details , they going to buy ice cones and she said what flavor they were all getting. Her teacher was very impress, I read her all the time and that really help a child to learn . I agree with you b/c I did the same with my child. My daughter is 40 and she does not use profanity,
you should feel very proud of yourself for being a good mom, I know I am.

When I was a kid, I can't remember hearing any profanity, and maybe only rarely as a teenager did I hear any. I never heard it on TV or at school. I attended public schools, lived in the suburbs and the inner city, lived in several different states and different socio-economic environments during the rebellious 60's. I never was exposed to much profanity, and never picked up the habit of using it, even when I joined the Navy. I never had any need for it.

I wish I could say the same but like I had said before my dad called me names and in public too . So I knew a lot of swears words very young and I am not bragging . I guess I just got use to hearing it so much it does not affect me like it dos most people. They just became words to me , this may had been a way to protect myself as a child.

I have a rather humorous story involving "swear" words. I went to grammar school in the early 50s, Catholic school, nuns and all that. Nun would read aloud to the class stories from secular books and magazines and would come to the word "hell" or "damn" or something innocuous like that. Instead of skipping over the word she would tell us, "there are some bad words here, so I'm going to skip them," making us very curious.

This subject reminded me of the nun reading to us for the first time in 65 years, making me laugh! Obviously I don't use profanity of any kind and cringe when I hear it. No getting away from it today, it's common language, ugh!
