Mention of this, including the title of this thread, always brings back different memories for me than for many.
My father died somewhat unexpectedly on October 18. He was having some health problems but we did not expect what did happen. Then came the Kennedy Assassination in November. The super somber music on all radio stations felt like it was never going to end (we didn't have a TV at the time). I was home with the flu when the assassination happened and looking for something distracting to help pass the time. One of my aunts, dad's sister, said the commentary seemed like they thought no one else had just lost a loved one.
