ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A New Mexico state lawmaker says he's "terribly embarrassed" about his arrest for drunken driving.
Especially since it came as he drove away from a bill-signing ceremony marking a crackdown on people who repeatedly drive while intoxicated.
Police in Albuquerque say Joe Thompson was pulled over after his vehicle rolled too far into an intersection at a red light. They say his breath-alcohol tests came back at 0.11 and 0.12 -- which is above the limit of 0.08
The 37-year-old Republican, the state's House minority whip, says he'll get treatment if advised to do so.
Thompson had been at an event marking some new laws that get tough on repeat drunken drivers. But none would affect Thompson if he is convicted.
