Is there a product or something special you do to relieve tinnitus?
Recently, I've noticed the tinnitus picking up. :( I have found so far that having some music playing helps in a quiet situation at home, but that's not feasible in public.

Do you have any tips, tricks, or advice?

Eat healthy food, exercise and maintain a positive outlook, the best you can do. I switched from coffee to tea and notice a difference.

there is no cure...
but best i can advise on is, to watch the food you intake...and avoid salty foods, high content of sugar, but its not always the case, it is how it is processed (made) and that 'how fast/rapid or long insistent release into the bloodstream - with this it depends whats your tinnitus is like,

I avoid chocolate bars that has nuts, mashmellows, or thick caramels (i loved them all ) that are the worst...
tea give me worse tinnitus than coffee (!)...
so you need to experiment for a couple of horrible months, then stick with whats give you the quietest, not every one reacts the same...but general guidelines are good starting points.
There is hundreds of food-causes-tinnitus information websites out there, just google, or altavista or Reeves, or yahoo it...

Stress is another big one...often times you dont even KNOW you're stressing...it might be like you're stressing because you missed going out to that part of the city for shopping, indeed that seems silly...but its kind of like it puts your 'listening for noises' to rest because you have managed to distract and enjoy yourself...
rotate chores, add abit of 'me time' at home too, and if say dishes are a real noisy...then do the wash have break for half hour (or 1, watch TV) then go back dry the rest...the idea is to minimise stress...

hope this helps a bit.

I checked recent threads, I didn't see one, but it is possible that I missed it.
Do you have a link?

*EDIT- is the thread "loud music and pain?"

I can't recall the title of the thread , and could not find it.

i might just do that too, atm its a Oticon Sumo...but Widex was the first making digital aids, so they are good too, ive used Widex before, and I preferred them for voice ranges pick-ups
and less background..
so yeah...hmmm

Third night in a row with no sleep. Tinnitus is crazy bad!!! All kinds of noises and feels like there is something bouncing around in my brain. Will this madness ever end??? My tinnitus is severe and quite debilitating. It has definitely changed the person I once was. I can deal with the total deafness but this noise is driving me bonkers.

been there too. bloody awful, I know....try watch one of your favourite film/video with noise down low but just enough so you can 'hear it to keep you focusing on it 0ven i cant hear what they say i use subtitles- have that on too), and just eat PLAIN food all day, say scrambled eggs on toast (nice!)...keep it plain...
what about asking your doctor for some amitriptyline, BUT it Can develop depression for no apparent reason, it is often prescribed for sleeping and pain...I took some a few years back it help a little but it gets me way too sleepy to function right during the day..its really strong...atmost care to be used with this drug, and I would not use it long term, as it can get addictive so ...use it for short time 1 month on low dose 10mg an hour or half hour before bedtime...try it, if you havent BUT another thing...it doesnt go well with interacting with other drugs for its half life has to be considered....
I mentioned this amitriptyline ,because you have the one of the worse case, and it's like a spiral...i been there and i Dont want to go back either and I still dread it happening too... good luck , and get well soon , here is a bit of a tricky but hard to do exercise id suggest you try,...meditate yourself to RELAX as much as possible listen IN the tinnitus hard as you can, tell it to die out...listen hard INside that nosie for NO noise, like a "hole" , its like telling your brain to listen to the "holes" not the waves...
I did this often when i had it BAD...worked sometimes, most time it doesnt but never give up, trying...its a hard art to do, is like doing everything but youre doing Nothing as possible , very weird.,,probably very Zen...lol

I personally wished that Phonak had bought out their tinnitus feature that's in the Audeo hearing aids, into their Naida hearing aids. People with severe to profound hearing losses can have tinnitus too.

Wonder if CI companies could make a tinnitus feature?

All these tinnitus relaxes don't work for people who are very deaf :(

I feel for you. One season I was affected by the pollen in a way that I never had before...with none stop Tinnitus. I thought I was going to lose my mind, and listening to that noise, it was impossible to hear. I really couldn't believe how much of a negative impact on my life. Maybe you could look to see if there's a support group that coulld offer advice on things that might relieve it, maybe talk with the audi? There must be a forum online for people going through this and they may have advice that would help ease what you're experiencing.

Thank you all for advice and insights. Like I said, it's really been picking up recently and it's driving me NUTS!!! Hopefully they'll find something soon!

A lot of my "noise" issues we believe come partially from my brain due to my illness, plus tinnitus. I have been researching with Mayo Clinic but so far no luck. Once things settle down around here I definitely will get more serious about mapping my CI, going back to my neurologist, etc. Last night was really bad, zero sleep. We have company so no napping today. With me, besides all the noise, I have pressure, plus what feels like electrical currents slamming back and forth in my brain. I have tried many medications, diet, exercise but so far not much luck. Probably need another MRI but with the CI that is a problem.

There is a lot of research on Tinnitus and the sound of water. Whenever I am near the ocean or a running creek or fountain the sound is drowned and I am so relaxed.
I am hoping to find a new house with a yard to build a running stream.
That said, for now, we have a fan running in our bedroom to help.
If you cannot deal then seek our a CBT therapist that can help you get a new mindfulness about the sound. Good Luck!!!

Last couple years on our big camping trip we tented next to a brook. Camping is usually when my tinnitus bothers me the most because of the quiet but the brook totally blocked it out.
