HTML5 is the way to go. You should most definitely check this website out as it compares HMTL5 and JS side to side.

Sorry for this reply being so late as life keeps me so busy! I meant to say Flash, not JavaScript. I must have been tired when I made that post. I love HTML5 too as this makes semantics much easier. For example, it would be easier to use <nav> tags instead of <div> to make navigation links or even <article> or <section>. One big HTML5 tag that has made ecommerce more popular would be <canvas>! Without this being possible, it would not be possible for purely HTML to be only used to make apps such as online product designers, etc.
