The gaping hole — which appeared recently in Texas' Lake Texoma — alarmed everyone from Twitter users to the Tulsa District US Army Corps of Engineers, who posted a YouTube video of the vortex. Below the video, they describe the hole as being "8 feet in diameter and capable of sucking in a full-sized boat."

There are tons of them everywhere. They are sinkholes that happen to be under water. Some big ones have been caused by drilling, for gas/oil or salt mines.

This just happened due to the rain, and imagine it happening under a lake http://www.weather.com/news/weather/video/giant-sinkhole-opens-on-oklahoma-highway

And I actually read the article. That was done intentionally, they opened a sluice at the bottom of the lake and they are draining it to the river.
