The sign for DEAF will be changed.

Girls don't go nuts here in SC. The big brown Palmetto bug is our state bug. We know how to dispatch with them. :D

A roach is your stag bug? I think that's funny.

LSQ? Geez, them fightin' wurds. Us Albertans and B.C. folks want to boot the frogs out.

Hell, I am still adjusting to the local signs in the Pacific Northwest. The fault is my part due not going to socials though.

Man, looks like I put my foot right in my mouth where 2 Canadian buddies are concerned! Apologies. No offense intended.

Now, the first time I saw a Palmetto bug, I yelled for someone to come get this huge roach! I was told it was not a roach it was a Palmetto bug.

Ok the roach is not Reba's state bug :P

Wow..I didnt know that the sign for Deaf is related to cockroaches.

"Waiter, there's a ROACH in my soup!"

You would suspect the waiter who runs out of the establishment in a panic. :giggle:

I label myself as deafmute, because beeing mute, as opposed to speech, is my natural state. Doesn't matter if one can speak or not. The sign for deaf or deafmute is ok with me, though it's a term, both in english and ASL that focus on what a group of human beeings(deaf) lacks(hearing-speech) compared to a different majority of human beeings(hearing).

Now, is it of any interest to go the other way, to make a sign for hearing that focus on what hearing people lack compared to deaf people?

A sign that focus on little ASL fluency in genereal, ASL with accent, their lower competence in body languages, or lack deafhood, for example?
