A fair bit, but career and a large degree of my life revolves around sound. My dependence on my HAs is absolute.
A fair bit... meaning? You know how to ask where the bathroom is... or can you manage an in depth conversation such as the one you are having with hoichi in sign?A fair bit, but career and a large degree of my life revolves around sound. My dependence on my HAs is absolute.
I see... so where did you learn sign?I can converse to reasonable degree. Enough to get by but getting by I am not very fond of and never have been. To describe my world My TV is so loud that it can be heard down the block, I just got a caption phone & my wife has to be my ears half the time. The doctors tell me thing will only get worst. I am techie and that is why I find CIs fascinating as well as all computer technology. If I am a cultist I am technology cultist all technology.
Alright... and did your classes cover deaf history? There was a special program. To it up after my diagnosis. I get highly upset about the diagnosis part.
That in no way has answered my question...I am a ware of the draconian policies of the past, but this is the 21st century. My mom had a saying "I pay the cost to be the boss". I just do not think some individual have come to terms that parents of CI Children "Pay the cost to be the boss".

I have studied deaf history. What I meant by my answer is that a parent has a responsibility to do what is best for their individual children and should not be judged for their choices (If they choose the CI over sign, they make that choice).
