What happened?

Last night around 9PM, he woke up complaining that his back and stomach were hurting. Then, he went to the bathroom and pooped up blood. Talk about both of us totally freaking out. Took him to the ER where they did a MRI, CAT scan, blood tests, and an urine test. Found nothing so they administered an IV with fluids for a few hours. Now, he is fine. The doctors said sometimes that happens when a child has a stomach virus.

That's very scary, Shel!....Guess he might have caught the virus at school....

My first thought was cancer. My friend's 3 year old son seems to be losing his battle with cancer right now so I guess I am a little nervous.

Oh boy, I'd freak out too! I'm glad it's only a virus and I'm sure he'll be fine soon if he isn;t fine already.

I'm sorry about your friend's son

Yea, it is really sad. Since he was born, he has been hospitalized. She was never able to bring him home even once because of his fragile health.

bloody poop and doc found nothing? ah... it's because anal fissures. it usually happens if you have a constipation or diarrhea or "squeezing" your ass while shitting. Happens to me a few times.

Tell your son to relax his ass when shitting.

:laugh2:

I will try to explain that to a 4 year old!

just make a story. "if you squeeze too hard, the poop will come out of your mouth!!!!"

ok that was disgusting... clearly not ready for fatherhood yet

A lot of kids "hurry" when pooping, not "finishing up" and become constipated....so I buy a lot of apple juice. Sometimes they don't even bother to wipe, in a hurry to get back outside or whatever game they were playing....When one of my sons was 6 yrs. old, he was like that...bad habit to break....But blood in the stool is dangerous and needs to be addressed by a doctor. If a child is constantly constipated, he might have ingrown hemmorhids. I did talk to all 3 of my boys about this, and told them to take their time to "do their business", not hurrying the process.
My boys absolutely "refuse" to poop anywhere except at home! Soon as school is out....and I do have 2 and 1/2 baths (thank God!)...they are in it, along with the air freshner.....

My daughter had massive issues with constipation and since she was 2, we have to limit her dairy and such. She is required to have mineral oil in her applesauce daily and twice a week, she used to get (not anymore) a prune juice milkshake that the doctor came up with. She still has issues, but is handling it well. We live for the air freshener and go through plungers like crazy. :giggle:

Shel I'm glad to hear your son is on the mend. Now you and your hubs need to try and get some rest.

When it comes to dairy I don't get constipation I have the opposite problem so I think I may be somewhat lactose intolerant.

Wirelessly posted

Short work week can't wait!

Tomorrow morning starts the window replacement. The man is starting with my room, so my computer will be offline from 11 this evening until sometime tomorrow late afternoon or Wednesday morning. He is going to try his hardest to get my two windows for the bedroom done at least. Then he will see what else he can work on. He's doing the front of the house first, to get the streetside completed.

I decided not to leave AllDeaf, but wanted to let people know that I will be offline for a day or so.

Same here. Today was our longest day, we were done by 2:30.

Awesome! I am going on a mini vacation to be a tour guide to my friend from KY. Her first time stepping on L.A. ground , it will be a blast!

I won't get a mini vacation anytime soon unless the plant schedules a 3 day weekend right after Thanksgiving as they did last year.
