Jiro Tofu, sounds perfect
I am reading "Going Rogue"
Ouch, hope you're OK - the fall sounds unfortunate.I had a great time at the Christmas party in PA last night with my girls and their families. It was so funny watching my hubby get confused about who was deaf/hearing and who was an ASL user and who wasnt. The couple who had the party are both deaf but dont know ASL (the sister of one of my girlfriends who has two deaf boys who are fluent in ASL..it is so interesting) and one hearing lady didnt know sign at all. Then we had a few deaf people there who had no lipreading skills so my hubby would start signing to the deaf couple or hearing lady without using his voice and then start speaking to the other deaf people without signing and then realize he had the wrong people in mind. I even did the same too..started signing to my friend without my voice only to remember that she cant sign. My hubby said that it feels so weird not signing to them knowing that they are deaf and he was so puzzled about how their kids are so fluent in ASL while the parents dont even know more than a handful. It was funny to watch my hubby being so confused like that because I went through that when I first started hanging out with the PA girls 4 years ago. LOL!
It was a nice mixture of deaf and hearing people there. Yes, it probably would be easier if the deaf couple and hearing lady knew ASL as the rest of us did (about 25 people there) but we managed.
We went to my other friend's house to stay overnight and then this am, we realized we forgot some things at my other friend's house so we went back. There was freezing rain and sleet in PA this am but the roads were fine. When we arrived at the host's house, her hubby was waiting for us with our stuff so he came out and I got out to meet him as it was pouring. As soon as I stepped on their driveway, my feet flew out in front of me and I slammed onto the ground so hard on my side. Their driveway was frozen over but we couldnt tell. I couldnt get up so I was lying there for a good 2 mins out of breath and everyone came running to me but slowly cuz they were slipping on the ice.
I am ok but very very very sore on my whole left side. I feel like I cant move too quickly or it will hurt. Damn ice!!!
I told my hubby I wish the girls lived closer because they are the only female friends that I have that I feel this very strong connection with. I dont feel like that with anyone here in MD even though I have many friends. I can relate with them on any level and of course, it doesnt hurt that one of them is my best friend since I was a year old.
I feel blessed to have them in my life and the 3 hour drive is worth it!
Hope you feel better soon Shel. That is the type of accident I fear every winter.

No, I should have collerbrated - I was in a meeting recently about workplace meetings where accomdations such as intepreters for me is a must - got the news the funds for it has been approved and is ready to be used, we have been waiting for this for a long time. Finally, I can use VRI for meetings on fridays. For Jiro to show up, or Shel to learn to watch for ice?

Sarah Palin's book? I wonder if it was published by Publish America - they will publish anything for a price.
I don't have strong opinion either way regarding Mrs. Palin, however I do think she could have done better to keep certain aspects of her life where it should be - in private. She carried herself more as a celebrity rather than a politician. Those are my only thoughts. Read on my friend.
