The Harmony Debuts on Advanvced Bionics Website

Ignore the link in the first post...

Thanks to Bob for head up again!

It happened today: A totally NEW website for Advanced Bionics, under the
Boston Scientific banner, as expected.

It's ALL NEW and exciting and now formally introduces the NEW HARMONY
processor!

Here's the link now: http://www.bionicear.com

Have a look for yourself!

I suggest watching this video "Journey to Sound" at http://www.bionicear.com/consumer/informational_videos.cfm?langid=1 (at bottom)

This half hour video describes what to expect at your initial cochlear implant programming session, and includes sample programming sessions and comments from adults, parents and children.

first person in the video is bilateral user. enjoy!

Also check out other videos via that link too!

Wow, I get to find out next Monday if I'm a candidate!! :hyper: :hyper:[/QUOTE]

Good luck!!! I get to find out next Friday if I'm a candidate!!! I hope for both of us that we're both a candidate!

If I'm indeed a candidate, I'm also going to be faced with being torn w/ the decision as to which CI brand is best for me. That's sooo hard!!! Ekkkk!!!

Maybe you & I can discuss in depth about each of them and stuff, since we're both going thru the same thing right now. :]

Once again, GOOD LUCK!!!!! I'll be thinking of you Monday and be rootin' for you!!!

(Thanks Bob from bhNEWS for head up! )

The Harmony BTE CI Processor from Advanced Bionics has made it's debut on the website!

Hey Boult, I hope you don't mind my asking, you have CI, right? [I think I read that you do, correct me if I'm wrong] If so- what kind of CI did you get?

Sorry for being a bit off topic.
Thanks!

Obviously.... I have Advanced Bionics because I started this thread :D

Currently I have Auria HiResolution BTE and will plan to go Bilateral (2nd implant for my left ear) and get those new Harmony BTEs

*cough* HIS post!!?? I'm a she!

I'm not sure, but if I get a 2nd CI done on my other ear, I might go for Advanced Bionics this time. I've heard of a few people having Freedom in one ear and AB in the other, so I know it can be done.

This may be a dumb question - but if one has a certain brand in one ear and a different one in another ear - wouldn't you be hearing things differently in each ear? If so, wouldn't that be kinda confusing and maybe annoying? I've worn 2 hearing aids all my life until a few yrs ago and still remember how I always loved hearing things evenly out of both ears at the same time.

I don't know. I remember reading somebody's online journal and she had Freedom in one ear and AB in the other ear. So I guess it would work. I dunno. I'd discuss it with my audiologist.

So, when you go in for your 2nd CI - you'll have one Auria HiResolution in one ear & the Harmony in the other ear ? Or will they remove the Auria and also give you the Harmony in the already-implanted ear?

What is the differences between the HiResolution & the Harmony? I suppose I could go to the site & try to find info myself but I'm literally soooo tired of reading sooooooooo much & trying to remember all these stuff I've learned! I'm taking a break! :P

No, I think Boult would upgrade to the Harmony on the already implanted ear, no need to re-implant that ear, and go bilateral in the other ear with Harmony as well. Hope that is more clearer for you. :)

Great, now I feel like an idiot. :P I should have checked the date of the post, oh well! :P

Sorry 'bout that, everyone, for the confusion! :]

btw- thx for correcting me, Boult!
