I just learned in Ontario Canada they are doing a test run of being able to text 911 or emergency services if you are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing. I have been saying they have needed this for years. You can currently look up on the internet if your cell phone has the program needed to support this program, as well as must register. What are your thoughts? Does your city, area, etc already have this?

As a VCO TTY user since 1996-I also could use 711 Relay service for emergency.
I live in Toronto Ontario.

yeah I saw on news few days ago so will happen in california next year ;) I was like nice.. so wud be easy on me than calling 911 and use my voice bleh. lol but of course VP already have 911 included in there so I don't touch 911 only if it's really emergency u know? ;)

I had seen this on the news a few times and the reporters are saying this will be good in when there is an intruder in the house and you do not made to made any sounds. Not one reporter said how this would helpful for deaf or hoh people in an emergency . No one is thinking about how this will help people that can't hear. Are hearing people really this clueless ? Yeah , I know the answer already , but damn what does it take to get hearing people understand what 'deaf and hoh' mean ?
