CARLSBAD, N.M. - A court appearance for a traffic citation turned into a more serious problem for a Carlsbad teen when he dropped a marijuana joint in the courtroom.



Robin Loftin, 18, was charged with contempt of court and sentenced to two days in jail for taking the illegal substance into Judge Walter Parr's courtroom at magistrate court.


According to court records, Loftin was in court Tuesday on charges of driving with a suspended driver's license and failure to renew his vehicle registration.


After the judge entered the courtroom, Loftin removed the hat he was wearing and the marijuana joint fell from the hat onto the floor.


Parr immediately cited Loftin for contempt of court and ordered him to the Eddy County Detention Center.


The judge deferred the sentences on the traffic citations on the condition Loftin obeys all laws, clears his license and renews his vehicle registration.


This wasn't Loftin's first run in with the law due to drugs. Court records show Loftin pleaded no contest in March to possession of drug paraphernalia after an Eddy County sheriff's deputy watched him hide a marijuana pipe inside a cabinet during a party.


According to the complaint, Loftin admitted the pipe was his and said he had used it to smoke marijuana before the deputies arrived. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail for the crime.

Marijuana is hardly bad for you. It's a known fact that alcohol is much worse for you than marijuana ever will be, in any given amount. Yet alcohol is legal.

Marijuana is only illegal becuase of the simple fact that the people who use marijuana in general, are stupid. I live in a small town, there's not much to do here, 'cept to get high, get laid, and sleep. So naturally, just about every teenager/young adult in this town smokes marijuana on a regular basis.

Most marijuana users would not be a problem, but the other select few are the reason marijuana is illegal. For example, about a month ago, it was warm out, so we were all outside down near the river having a good time. This river was real close to a hay field. Naturally, we all got high, and popped a couple pills, varying from Alpha-O's, to Foxy, to Adderall, just whatever you wanted.

Anyway, one kid there, decided it would be "cool" to play with fire... in the field. He, of course, was high at the time. He ended up setting the field on fire, only to extinguish it a second later. By then, he had a bright idea to light the FIELD on fire, but to contain it *somehow*. Naturally, he fucked up, lighting quite a bit of the field on fire, and it was spreding quickly. Now, hadn't I had stolen a couple fire extinguisters over the past few weeks just for the hell of it, the field proably would have burned itself down to ashes.

Then, when he would have gotten busted, the cops would have said something along the lines of "Oh, look! He was smoking marijuana when that happened! He waas high! It was the marijuana that made him do that!"

Marijuana is pretty much harmless, outside the fact that it -- Destroy's brain cells at a *very* slow rate, and the fact that it contains more tar than cigarettes.

If you smoke cigarettes, or drink alcohol, you're in no position to critisize marijuana by any means. There are a million things that people do all the time, that cause more harm to a human body, than smoking a joint, or taking a few hits out of a bong will ever do.
 
i dont think weed should be illegal, after all, cigarettes killed millions of people while weed never killed them directly.. so dont you think tha cigarette should be made illegal?
 
YES!!!!! finally, the best thing i've ever heard abt weed and everyone knows its true....weed is better tha cigs...cigs make ur lungs damn black and u die from tha shit......weed dont make ur lungs black or kill u.......well it can kill u if u use it wrong way.....:twisted:
 
Geez, hes stupid enough to carry joint with him at court house...what a fucking dumbass he is... :laugh2:
