Is teamviewer safe or useful? can teamviewer be hacked but how? I am curious about it. I just learned this one recently.

Yes, safe. I have it on my PC, MAC and iPhone. no hack
 
I used it, and dont use it anymore. I prefer to pay a bit more upfront for microsoft upper version. if you have home edition- I just get professional or ultimate to get same access. I just setup the port I need on the router and done.
 
I use to assist my families or friends that live far away when they need help using computer or repair a virus or malware on thier computer

It pretty safe and they have to give me a password each time I need to access it and the password is never same when they start up Teamviewer each time unless they set it up permently for their own remote access.

So I would said it safe to use

I have used it a lot of times. Like they say, there is a password and it changes each time you open it up. Once you close the TeamViewer on your computer, they can't get back in. At least, not that I know of. So far, 4 people have had access to my computer through TeamViewer and they all came from AD. of those 4, there is only one that I no longer trust to give the code to again.
 
This reminds me of VNC that I used years ago when I was in college. I had a friend use VNC on his roommate. He made it look like the computer had a mind of its own. Hehehe!

I use teamviewer for few years and I don't see any problem with it so far. I used it a lot for my customers/family/friends and no one complained about it. It's pretty works very well between Windows, OSX, and Linux for remote. I love it already. It's better than VNC and logmein.

KristinaB beated me about explained everything for password and I am agreed with her.

KristinaB, if you still worry about hacker and you may uninstall the teamviewer as you wish but you can re-install it agian in future if need.
 
cool. thanks! its all new to me. i know i ll have more examples by seeing it how they can access it to fix it but if my computer is dead so others cant enter it?? my computer crashed and it died that wont turns it on. can teamviewer enter it? lol

Same problem as KristinaB. See other post on 'A Techie Thread About Absolutely Nothing!'. Some AD members may help you to solve problem.

:hmm: dead is dead. did you neglect to tell whom suggested teamviewer to check out your pc?

Is it really dead? IE: no power? or just has issues booting up? I can take a look at it for you if you want.

i put it in the corner of the room. i use laptp for now. maybe one of those days we get a good time to take a look at my computer, perhaps in spring. i dont get rid of it yet because it has no power on at all. how strange. i unplugged it when we went away for a week and then came back. i put plug on and turn the power on. it is DEAD. :shock: i said, "wtf!"

Luckily, mine is not dead. I just have BSOD crashes, but can usually get it back up. If I get them too often in a row, I will do a system restore.

Yes, I know, a hacker can get into most anything these days. I think I may actually change a few settings (Windows Update and Antivirus schedule) and shut down each evening, but I don't like doing that. I will if it's better.

More and more, TeamViewer has been a God send for me.

Yep, I have a Teamviewer on my Mac, it's randomized password as the Tech Support send me a password, started up and let the tech fix my mac lappy for P3 software and router settings. It's safe after you logged off the Teamviewer program.
