In a public government elementary school?
Hard to say. It would depend on the circumstances, the teacher's contract, and the school board policy. That's impossible to know with a hypothetical question.Hmmm. What if? Would the teacher get terminated? Interesting.
Let me check the guidebook, if there is one.

What about the opposite situation? Suppose the teacher told the class there is a God?In Alabama? Yes.
In California? No.

If the question came up during class, she could tell the students, "Children, that is something you should ask your parents."
Oh yea, that would go over really well.
I asked my speech therapist why people have sex. (I didn't know anything about O's at the time.) She said "Ask your mother."
Smart answer. I don't think my mom would have appreciated her telling me about the pleasures of sex.

In science class when I talked about the concept of matter with my 3rd graders. One of them said it was because God created matter...I just said, "Ok" and kept on going with the subject without any further discussion about God. I would never tell my students that there is no such thing as God or Santa Clause.
I would have told my own kids what I think but not in classrooms.. That said, I think the parents overreacted in this case.
