AllDeaf's baby sister site, TagDeaf.com, will be shut down at midnight tonight. Alex suggested a thread be created here to discuss this situation, and to perhaps persuade him to reconsider.

I know I will miss it over there. It is a softer place for many people to stop by. I have made many friends there. It does not appeal to everyone, but I know many that depend on it for making friends in the deaf community.

Feel free to add your comments. If you have nothing positive to add, feel free to move on by.

On the positive side, there is still here and TagDeaf people can use this site.

I belong to TagDeaf but never really understood it.
 
Just got the email about it.
I dunno- I joined recently and I dont really care for it. isnt myspace and facebook enough?
If we were to keep tagdeaf it would be because its for deaf only. If it had alot more interest and something to entice us over there then I'd fight for it.

Instead I propose that we create goodies apps built in. maybe a way to link alldeaf to facebook if alldeaf user wanted to. perhaps a global map of current AD'er location?
 
I would like to see a livechat feature here. That is one thing AllDeaf lacks.
 
Good people over at TD....it's moreso a fun site, very relaxing, no stress, no hassles or debates. For the most part, everyone is nice to everyone. Sure, many times I could not understand the pure ASL as most members use there, but I worked my way around that. And I'm LD, not a fluent signer....

I've made a lot of friends there, had a lot of good laughs and good feelings for all the members. Am sad it's closing, as I'm sure that most members are in despair about it.....

Whether they will elect to come to AD is up in the air, most will go to FB....But hoping that if some do elect to come to AD, that they will be most welcome and the AD members will be nice to them, and mainly, understanding of them.

That's about all I can say or do.
 
Well - I got the email about it. I am obviously a member, however, I haven't been there much. Think I have 3 or 4 friends, but with so much going on, I forget.
 
I don't care of that site. I don't have friends in there to talk anymore but only on other site I do. I don't use Tagdeaf anymore.
 
I am bit of confuse here i have a friend won't join me in alldeaf cause they don't hardly understand and most of them like TagDeaf seem they enjoy the background and other stuff ... it seem hurtful sad to shut it down it have 34 deaf ppl on livechat it was amazing i not so sure i like it here i try many thing to learn here just to stange to fit in, Thank you. have good smile.
 
Wow, not exactly a lot of support here. Sadly, the members of that site are not comfortable here, and vice versa. I had hoped to get some positive feedback here. Looks like that ain't gonna happen.
 
Some people just don't understand Tagdeaf and the friendships people have made there. Maybe you haven't, but there has been a number of us who have.

A couple years ago I was new over there and that site was in an uproar of people harassing the members there (from another site) there were a few people that tried to ruin the site and "run" it as if it were theres. I for a little while was the only moderator there aside from Alex and I cleaned it up in a quick hurry. It was bad.. but it got A LOT better. With the help of Spelchek (saywhatkid) and now PEMA it has ran very smoothly for quite some time.

Sure Facebook and myspace are huge, but this is a place that has virtually no drama, most everyone is Deaf or HOH... and everyone is their own person.

I'm really sad about this. I hope we can keep it but if not we have AD... but a lot of people over there use their profiles to express themselves. and add videos and chat with each other.

I guess we will see..

Also, sorry, Im in Florida on Vacation..
 
AD is a lot more "complicated" than TD. At least it is to some members at TD. I can undy their concerns!
Here at AD, there are so, so many highly educated and bright deafies! Some members have stated that they "don't understand TD"...and the same goes for TD members regarding AD ....

Here's hoping Alex will reconsider!...The site has been cleaned up, spammers held at bay....The Mods at TD worked very hard to make it a good, clean site to have fun and for the deafies to express themselves. Each and everyone of us have our own range of intelligence.

Closing down TD will be very heart breaking for so many members there....
 
I remember tagdeaf is very wonderful I am disappointment! I understand tagdeaf is very nice,I missed my frineds! :(
 
i dont like this site one bit a visit here and its the same ole shit tagdeaf was a better site than this so confusing here how are we suppose to chat with other deafies here posting threads is gonna help i dont think so geez dont know if ill stick here at all dang it gonna miss tagdeaf friends for sure sorry
 
Having a website is a lot of work and money, but AD definitely took all my attention, I mean, more than TD to be honest... Liked the interface or whatever its called but I think it's Alex choice at the end, we don't pay for the service (unless it's a donation) so I guess it's ok whatever you guys decide, if persuade or not.

I think I signed up for TagDeaf, but I never used it much as I use mostly Facebook for connecting with friends. I can however understand some concerns over the site being shut down. From what I have read in this thread it was small but tight close-knit community and I respect that. As stated before any TagDeaf members who come here to stay in touch are more than welcome to come aboard to Alldeaf and I hope some do.

I would like to see a live chat perhaps twice a month to once a week. That would be cool to be able to converse with several people in real time, however Alex may be reluctant to do this as he would have to designate chat room mods that can quickly stop any fights and be willing to boot members who break the chat room rules or 'etiquette'. Added to that, many Alldeaf members already chat on MSN Messenger, AIM, and Yahoo as well as on Facebook chat. These members may be content to keep things as is. Having a weekly chat can be difficult as someone has to be around to open and close the chat room, our mods may not be available to do this due to their personal schedules. These are just some things to consider when discussing the possibility of having a live chat here in Alldeaf. However, if we ever do get a live chat, I will support it.

Just my thoughts for what they are worth.

Well, honey, this is called a FORUM: a website, newspaper, television programme etc where people can express their ideas and opinions
so, said that, you've got sections here, if you pick one and CLICK on it, you can read many OPINIONS AND IDEAS of different people, hearings and deafs, talking about an specific subject, probably not that specific because it's like a big Roman forum and we all talk about everything, read this if you need it: forum - definition of forum by Macmillan Dictionary

I hope you can add your friends to MSN, AIM or Facebook and don't lose them! Missing means like you're planning not to meet them again soon, or that's what I think.

Lost interest and left long time ago after all the fighting and bickering going on by two groups. Also somebody posted some horrible ghastly porn images in TD forum which turn me off big time. Its started out great and I have made some friends there but it went ugly with constant fighting. Then I left and went over to facebook.

I will miss Tagdeaf is beautiful but Tagdeaf will be shut down oh well. :( I accept Tagdeaf go to shut down...
