My maternal grandmother used to do them all the time until the last 2ish years of her life. One of my paternal aunts used to do the crossword in ink lol. Dad is the one who does them here but in pencil (which drives me nuts he writes so light it's hard to see). Me.. Pen- easier to see. Sometimes I find them online to do.

They used pencils too to erase some letters/words.... I use pencils too for Sudoku puzzle book.
