Yale University student sues the airport for $1 million when he finds out that his Xbox360 was not in his suitcase when he arrived into another state. So he was very upset and assumed someone stole it.

I would be very upset too...since it was expensive and that I worked hard for it.

But suing the airport for $1 million seems abit too much...$5,000 seems more than enough to me to give them my punishment. lol

Hell no.

I can take game console or laptop for travel, longer as make secure and never left unattended in anywhere.

This person is supposed to put console in carry-on instead of checked luggage or use lock on luggage.

Agreed with you. I always use carry-on for Canon EOS 20d with lens, macbook, and video game. Luggage is for clothes ONLY so nothing to worry about "break" thing if someone drop the luggage by accident.

Whoa! I agreed with the guy who sues the airport.. cause its his stuff. I noticed that airport has lost alot of stuff for the people who has brought with them or the bagger guys could steal their stuff while putting their luggages in the back of the airplane. They could be sneaky and a thief.

while it looks like a frivolous "sue sue sue" case... let's put it this way - he's just trying to DO SOMETHING about this situation because this problem is EVERYWHERE and nobody isn't doing anything about it. We all know the horror of our airline system.. there are problems after problems after problems and nobody's still doing anything about it - plague of flight delays/cancellations, massive loss of luggage, etc. He figured he'd teach them a lesson by suing them.

He probably inflated what he is asking for so he could get the amount he wants. That is something to think about.

That's why you should have travel insurance once you go traveling with expensive stuff.

this is retarded, yup travel insurance, everyone knows why. Besides, if you cant afford that, then LEAVE the fucking gaming console at home, or anything precious for that matter.

this is getting stupidier when someone assumes they know more than the airports staff which they have an accumulation of experience and detailed knowledge of their workings of the system. of course somewhere along the already extremely efficient system of handlng huge volumes of baggages constantly, there will be a chance something will fall thru the cracks. On top of this expecting this efficiency to go up another scale is kind of expecting too much like, its's bordering on obssession for control, even a certain type of arrogance we dont need know from other people. Society has to approach these sorts of matters in more realistic, even old fashioned way, expect something to go wrong and have insurance, and if pressed, then pay higher premiums for handling valuable goods, if you cant do that, then you're in no place to push people around, expecting to be treated like Kings.

Expecting your stuff not to be stolen out of your luggage by their own employees while you pay for them to transport it is not "expecting to be treated like Kings" but expecting them to do the job you paid them to do. What kind of screwed up world do you live in where people who don't pay extra for travel insurance shouldn't "push people around" and not complain when they pay money to have the airline steal from them? It sounds like extortion with a dice throw involved if you ask me.

I agree.

I have seen "caught on tape" a show where they have shown airport employees stealing items from luggage.

We already have to pay extra to have our luggage checked in. So If I have to pay that money to have it done. I want the job done right. Like they are suppose to.

Now for the Airport. If they can not control and make sure their employees are not stealing items. How can they be sure no one is planting items.

Airports are supposed to be "HIGH" security. etc.. :hmm: Makes you wonder how secured they are when they have crooked staffs.

If they can not keep a handle on the staff from stealing.... I would hate to see what other things happens.

And this is a Yale student?! Maybe book smart, but NOT common sense smart! I always ship high value items through UPS/Fedex to my destination, these carriers insure the manifest.

lol I agreed with you, $5,000 to $10,000 is good enough for me. I wonder what he will do with $1 million:

1,000,000 x 199.99 of Xbox 360 Arcade= 5,000 consoles
1,000,000 x 299.99 of Xbox 360 Pro= 3,333 consoles
1,000,000 x 399.99 of Xbox 360 Elite= 2,500 consoles
1,000,000 x Big Mac with fries/drpepper from McDonalds= 200,400

Maybe he is seeking punitive damages as well.

Not to just replace the X box.

Nice nice nice, he made easier life better than work harder. He had to pay 33% to lawyer plus fee $$ to court. He will have to pay tax. Maybe, he takes $450,000 home.

5 years ago, I carried 2 Prof Digital camera (in the backpack) in the airline. Someone stole one of my Nikon D1h during our flight to Phoenix,

Found out missing my camera then I made report to police. About 3 weeks later, they sent me a check but still little lost $$$ value.

Sorry to heard about that.

How hell someone stole your Nikon D1h front of you? I always put my macbook and EOS 20d in my backbag and put it under the stair so not worry about fall off from the top.

I just wonder how to work that they believe that your DSLR is stole without proof?

Well if the airport security is as tight as it is. They should know what you left with, and what you arrived with. :D

Would that be considered proof? Nowadays?

I do not need to tell you long story about missing my camera.

To make report police then Insurance needs proof report from police. Insurance asked me serial number of my camera and proof purchased date. Also, I reported Nikon Repair Service include my serial number of DSLR.

My insurance agent know what I have photo gears. Also, I am freelance photo to protect myself & equipments from sue by angry customer or damage gears from sport accident. I paid for insurance to protect my personal business.

In 1980's, I was going to take picture of punk with dope at Amsterdam, Holland. He woke up and angry at me. They chased me. I escaped.
Other day, I never saw Italian soldier's beautiful uniform. Not like other place in Italy. I was going to take picture of his uniform. Italian soldier was going to shoot (UZI) point at me with my camera. I rised my arm with camera. They told me no allow to take picture of soldier at Goverment property (alike White House in Roma, Italia).

Most important to have insurance to protect personal business & equipments.
