Student got arrested in a major drug bust at Gallaudet University

3 years on Supervised Release is standard for felony charge?

i dunno the law over there, or what, but
it smells like 'slight special treatment because she's deaf. so a plea bargain made the deal of 'shorter jail term is balanced out with lengthier supervision period'.perhaps?

I agreed 100%, its just another political bullshit.

that's crazy, quite excessive maybe 6 months and do the 2 years supervision, i dont like the idea of banning her from grants, loans its just going to create her as a criminal for even longer...tolerance is bullshit

absolutely not. she's a criminal. I do have a sympathy for drug user but none for a drug dealer.

a drug dealer living in college? are you kidding me? what if parents' kids died from her drugs? absolutely unforgivable. it should be a death penalty if that happened but fortunately nobody died. I'm disgusted by the fact that she will serve 1 year in prison. absolutely disgusted. should increase it to 2 years.

It could be possible. :hmm:

not really. it's typical in America and I'm deeply appalled about how easy it is to quibble (with a lawyer, of course) your way out of DUI and drug charges without serious jail time.

NJ is one of several states with high DUI charges as well as high numbers of people getting off easy. just appalling.... appalling.... *smh*

Not in Nevada. That happened to Jessica Williams, driver, who killed six juvies on the side of freeway picking some trash. Google her name. One of six juvies was my mom's best friend's granddaughter.

That online report is incorrect.

Molly's been hit with a Felony II for life. She also received ZERO jail time. She was sentenced to two years probation which has been transferred to Houston. She has already reported to her probation officer and is resting at home comfortably with her family.

Welcome home, Molly!

If I am reading the plea correctly, they got her for one of the pill charges.

Also, looks like 0 time served is being applied.

Nope. All pills charges were dropped. She was only charged and sentenced for intent to distribute marijuana.

Oh really?

Lesson hard learned....feel it's one thing to smoke pot occasionally...but it's major to sell it, especially to kids. At 31 years old, she knew better, so no excuse is good enough from her.

Is this 12 months in jail minus the time she has already served?...then it won't be the full 12 months.

She spent a total of 4 hours in jail. This was on the night she was arrested. That's it.

It could be DC mayor commuted the jail sentence.

You sound like you are proud of her.....

Way to try to attempt misdirection.

I AM happy she is home. I am not as punitive as some of you want to be. I could care less about marijuana. I think our country has far bigger issues than marijuana.

Not attempting misdirection at all.....just trying to get a feel for the frame of reference you operate out of......only to now see the misdirection's coming from you, no?

How's that? I've been very consistent about my position regarding this entire bust.

Who did make decision that she doesn't have to serve the jail sentence? Judge?

DC mayor could commute the sentence - it means you don't have to serve the jail time but still have felony on record.

My major problem with distribution of drugs - not pay taxes. If they are taxed so I have no problem with them.

However, it is still illegal under DC law and federal law.
