To be frank with you, WildKatRess -- a lot of rapists or murderers don't really give a shit whether their victims are engaged or married, single, etc.
So it was wise of you to refuse the offer and leave right away without giving that bloke a chance to give chase and catch you.
 
You did the right thing, doesn't matter how cute he is, even nice looking guys can be bad! I read this experiment once where they ask kids what a 'stranger' (like as stranger danger) looks like and they all said he is big man with black hood covered his face and has knife or axe or gun and says bad things... then they ask man who looks kind to ask kids to let them in to use phone bc his car broke down... and all the kids except 1 did! He got into their house bc the kids think he looks ok! Scary! A guy doesn't have to look bad to be bad! You did the right thing to be suspicious, he might really have been nice, but if you don't know him it's best not to get in his car!
