Stop the stupid smilie random-izer...

Yes, some smilies may be considered offensive. However, not every single website on the web is expected to be 100% clean. We all have our freedom. We're not charging you or forcing you to use the smilies. When I first joined AllDeaf, we had more offensive smilies. None of the members cared about it. A year later, more and more members started complaining... and we removed them. If we keep this up, we might as well remove ALL smilies. It's like a Playboy magazine. You walk in your local 7-11 store. You see a copy of Playboy sitting on the shelf. What you going to do? Sue the manager? He's not forcing you to buy it nor is he forcing you to look at it. The smilies are there IF the member wants to use it. It should be your responsibility to supervise your children of what they do on the web. Sure, you can tell us to make our website very clean with no naughty smilies. However, that's not going to stop your kids from going to other websites.
I care less about the sex smilies. I'm just tired of having to go search for the smilies since it's never in the same place. Let put it this way, how you would like it that everytime you come back to AllDeaf that all the groups/messages been randomized. Or how about everytime you reboot your computer, windows/mac os x/linux will randomized all the files on your computer forcing you to go look for them.

It's all about making things user friendly to find things easier if everything would stay where they were the last time you saw the smilies.

I see. You are saying that nobody is willing to change their ways to protect children.

Well, why should we, though?

It's up to the parents to decide what is good for the child to see, and what is not. I agree with you that some of the content on here isn't fit for a child's eyes. But, all one has to do is curtail his or her activities when the kids are around. I certainly do this, and I don't have a problem with the four and five year old going home to their Mother and saying "Mommy, I saw a picture of ______ on Aunt ________ computer!" I can honestly say the children have never seen anything on here that I wouldn't want them to, and it's because, I'm careful about what I open up with them around me!

That's really all you need to do.

But of course, why should we ?? let them kiddies fend for themselves.
Life is though and cruel and they have to find out about it anyway

Most children if they are of school age, are AT school during the day. Not to mention, it is the adult's responsibility to moniter what their child sees. If you think that your child is going to see something they shouldn't, then perhaps, you should consider perusing All-Deaf at a time when you're child isn't around to look over your shoulder.

Why should I? am I doing something bad by perusing Alldeaf? is it wrong to use this site in front of children? if yes, why? is it my fault? and - surely nothing can be done about it? there is no solution simple and easy for everyone?
And what if my child quietly enters the room without me knowing?
besides, she's 14, it's vacation time, and she dislikes dirty stuff.
Oh, and sometimes it is simply impossible for me to use the computer without her present- the computer is in her room...
I also fail to see why should I rearrange my rooms, furniture, to be able to enter Alldeaf whenever I want. Surely hiding the smilies away would be simpler than me moving my stuff around...?
Afterall NOTHING else prevents me from being at any time on Alldeaf but bad smilies in the open.

How does your post get lost?

I have no idea. I clicked on 'open window' and the entire page got refreshed losing my post during the process. Don't want that happen again. It happened once though, but still I am vary.

Come on, Fuzzy. This is starting to get really old.

May I remind you you don't have to follow this thread. People talk about it, and I am defending my stance, that's all. happen to be stubborn..
Besides, I see there was/is more people unhappy with the dirty smilies displayed in open so I am not the only one complaining. Lately yes but still -not the only me.
Random smilies is also irritating as well.

If we keep this up, we might as well remove ALL smilies.

I did not wanted to remove them I wanted to HIDE them.

You walk in your local 7-11 store. You see a copy of Playboy sitting on the shelf.

I don't know about USA but here in Canada the store is supposed to put them somewhere out of sight because of the underaged.
I think it's rather considerate, don't you? Most of them comply.
Besides, on the cover are usually pretty naked women - not masturbating or giving BJ.

Fuzzy, not bristly

No, I have not seen that. Your stores must be different from ours.

True. It is just annoying to have to search thru the mucky ones to find the clean ones that I want. It would be nice to have a separate window for the nasty smilies.

It should be your responsibility to supervise your children of what they do on the web.
That is the reason I don't open up AD while the grands are here. I don't want them to see nasty pictures, so I just stay away from the site while kids are present.

I didn't say that anyone had to do that; I was just clarifying the point.

Yes, that is what I do. When the kids are here, AD is off.
